octmac, that's distressing news! I think JennyRR has good points to consider as possibilities. I did some test shrinks last night on myself and wore them today so see what was what, and i found the same thing you did - some hair from the far left, the far right, and a glob in the middle, then bonded too far down, blahblahblah...and when I took them out today, lumps of hair came out along with them. I attribute it to poor installation on my part given that I don't have eyes behind my head, and only one functioning eye in the front, not being able to see the shrinkie as I bonded it, etc. I'm paying a hairdresser to put the full head on tomorrow at least this first time - I think that's the way to go when you're a newbie and handicapped (sorry for the pun). My money's still on shrinkies and synth, however, and I think once we get the hang of it, it will be the answer!
I think it is a combination of me pulling at them - you know when one of the shrinkies is old and almost ready to fall out? I caught a couple on the brush, so that did not help the mrings were hell on my hair, damage might have started there, too much hair, and not being as neat as i could have been as far as my parts go when i was installing them the first time around, so i would have a few strands from the left, and a few strands from the right, with the most being where i wanted them, that would put stress on the hair...but i was so excited by the shrinkies
i've never really completely removed all of them at once, just kept up maintaining them as they became loose oe raggy. As soon as the banages come off my hand and i can move what is left of my fingers...i will start all over - removing everything, and maybe having someone else put them in - ugh! i hate paying for something that i can do myself!!!
I should change my title of this post..."user errors with shrinkies"

Yikes! That does not sound good. Have you noticed any shedding or breakage while you've been wearing them? Is it possible that the headband is catching on the shrinks and ripping the hair? Or is it possible that the hair just looks thin because the shrinkies have grown further from the scalp and are separating your hair so that the scalp shows more? Were the strands particularly heavy that they might have put too much stress on your own hair? I'm a bit puzzled by this.
I imagine you'll have a better idea of exactly what's going on when you remove them. How long have they been in, by the way? And have you had any other problems with the shrinkies or the installation, beyond this?
hi, please excuse my tpying - trying to recover from yet another hand surgery.... i've had shrinkies in for a while (at least a month if not more) trying out different glues for pre-tipped. i noticed the other day that the top of my hair is now really really thin!!i've always had fairly curly hair...a lot of it and now i can actually see my scalp!!!I had the shrinkies with a full head and wore it with a headband so i never noticed the hair loss - I had mrings in before, so I do not know where the damage happened. I am now going to take them all out and put in mrings on a weft - but I do not know what to do with the top of my head!! has anyone used the closure? HELP!!
