WOW!!!
great support and response in no time flat!
thank you!
amm: i just may need to take you up on that offer....i've already checked all the beauty supply stores in my town, but i'll throw a wider net to Dallas before dumping that burden on you...i'd gladly kick in a little extra for the added effort, though....
emmaskye: your husband is far more patient than my boyfriend...he's facinated by the process, but reluctant to offer any assistance above and beyond "looks great, doll!!".....

again...i can't thank you enough...this forum is an excellent resource and i'm kicking myself for not utilizing it sooner.

Think you read that wrong. Solo meaning I do my own extensions by myself. I never put hair in without pretipping. Nevah evah.

Welcome to the board. Ive glued in many a weft solo! Its completely possible and somewhere around here there is another thread on how I set up my little 'workstation'!
ah I found it heres the link http://talk.hairboutique.com/forum/viewthread.asp?forum=AMB_AP934431446&id=5751

Theres also another great suggestion of setting in front of a computer with a wecam or video camera behind you. That way the image of the back of yourhead is right in front of you and its not like looking in reverse in the mirror!

Liquid gold does work good for wefts and I have some great tips to make them stay in along time

But LG can also be a task to remove too. It isnt as messy and gooey as latex. If you leave them in until the bond starts to break down (or until the growth of your natural hair says its time to redo) they will come out easier. But LG is a very strong tight bond and trying to take them out after a week or two isnt so easy!
I like LG because it is strong and will last with the right technique. But if money was no object and glue color wasnt a concern Id probably use ChrissyV glue. Thats some really good bonding glue too, but its expensive $40+ $10 shipping. It isnt quite as long lasting as LG but removes like a breeze. and very unmessy! And it comes in 4 colors. So it usually isnt an exact match, but you can mix colors...if you want to spend that much money on glue! LG dries clear so no color concerns

Amm you use a hand held mirror and wall mirror only? LOL how the hell do you do it!

With bonding/wefts that would be impossible since you have to hold each end of the weft to place it right without spreading glue all over your hair!

a) Sign up with PayPal and look for a site that uses it and you can use a check. Ive been a memeber of PayPal since 2000 and never had any problems.

b)My husband helps me with my extensions but most of the ladies on here do it themselves. It is possible. The best idea Ive heard of is using a camara attached to your computer or your tv, set it behind you and you have a great view of the back of your head.

Good luck

Local hair suppliers carry Liquid Gold. If you have any near you, stop in and check. If you can't find any, send me a private mail and you can send me a check or money order and I'll find some for you locally and send to ya.

That said, Liquid Gold is great but not necessary. Today I pretipped with FABRI-TAC that I bought at a fabric store. Worked great, too. I put a drop of nail glue over the top and I was done.

so...
i promise i prowled around the board for HOURS to find answers to these questions. with renewed confidence that i'm not wasting your time:

a) it's been established that removing latex glue is a tedious, perpetually recurring, Event. i'm sold on liquid gold, based on many previous posts, but in a moment of self-satisfied new years' vigor, i cancelled my credit cards and have been completly unable to find ANWHERE that will accept a check or a money order for it. (ebay seems riddled with "buy it now" as the only option...which does me no good)...any leads to individuals or shops accepting that outdated form of payment?

b) i've been doing my own extensions (bonded weft. nothing fancy. with excellent results, aside from the aforementioned glue frustration) for years now, but i'm considering some of the strand-by-strand methods...time consumption doesn't bother me, but is it impossible to do this to yourself with no assistance whatsoever? are two mirrors and good dexterity enough, realistically? do any of you do your entire head solo?
