Sorry, I'm not a member. I think they are pretty strict with letting people post, I guess they have had a lot of problems? That seems weird. If someone is posting improper things, that's what they have admins for. Wow, AIWB, very good points. I have to say again, the friendliness at this forum is awesome.
It the black cultures have invented the whole hair weaving and hair extension art and I think they are still the best experts to develop it further. I hope everybody feels invited to post here!
Thanks, Alice. It's too bad that people can't get permission to post more easily. A few months is a really long time to wait. Perhaps the admins just aren't letting any new members post at all?

I have been reading the blackhairmedia board for some time now and asked for the special permission to post few months back and still dont have the permissions. I think it is a mistake of the admin to have a deny all policy. Much better to include all and maybe delete some then to include some and restrict the wealth of information that can be exchanged by a simple web surfer who can add some spice to the mix.
One thing I have to say about feeling like an intruder to the board if you stick around and say too much.....one thing I know for sure is that these ladies like a lot of you are thursty for information and would love it if you have some opnions, product reviews company or site info etc to offer.
I'm black and I'm learning something new everyday from this board......Thank you ladies for the thermo hair reviews they look absolutly fabulous! When I first saw the lady with the plastik hair shrinkies on this board I flipped! I always wanted to try the thermos after years and thousands of dollars spent on the remys, platinums, adorables, lugos, his and hers and hairfactory disasters....but one thing I dont like about them are the lengths!!! and because of this board I was able to find them. Just love all of you ladies for all of the posts!!!

I think I read somewhere that you have to get 'approved' to be able to post on the board, and that there was a waiting list or something? But that was just something I had read in a post on the board so Im not sure if that is correct.
Hmm...I just registered and logged in to BHM, but for some reason, I don't have permission to post a new topic or even reply to existing threads. I'll play around with the user settings a little or something, but I'm not sure what's up.... :)
All excellent points. And it's interesting: There's such vast diversity with hair, even within ethnic or racial groups. I've often heard that this method or that method is only for Black hair, and then some White woman gets it done and likes it better than any other method she's tried or vice versa.
Well, perhaps I'll drop in and say hi then. I believe you have to register for BHM, and I don't know if the registration is immediate or not. I do think there can be a lot of value in sharing techniques and tips between sites (a lot of the girls here are also on Quinnsters, for example). And there definitely is a lot of value in sharing reviews of sellers--the more info., the better, imo!
***JAVAGIRL CLIMBS ON SOAPBOX*** You know, it's strange. I'm an aa woman, I have read both boards, I have had at least 15 techniques, some are suited to caucaisan hair and some are suited to aa hair. I think there are a few things we can all agree on: We all want longer hair, at a reasonable price. 2) We have FUN with our hair. We all like to color, cut, curl style 3) We can all learn from each other. It is absolutely true that our hair is different, but I know LOTS of white chicks with NAPPY hair and LOTS of black chicks with straight hair. I don't think any disrespect was meant with the post about "white chicks have a weave site"..I was just as surprised when I stumbled upon this forum. I definitely think a huge multi cultural forum would be awesome...I mean, we act like white and black girls are the only ones who get weaves...what about hispanics and asians? I bet we could invent the PERFECT WEAVE if we put our minds to it...I mean, after all, we are females, and what do we like better than an improvement project??!

I think that is a great idea jenny, the aa women who come over here are always surprised at the knowledge on this board, and usually people are happy to share what they know with people who are genuinely interested in learning, like you. I for one am very interested in learning about their hair for personal reasons, my hubby and I will be adopting a child in the next 2 years, and our focus right now is on a Hatian orphanage, so I need to really learn about hair care for aa women. (we want a girl, have two boys)

Why not ask if they want to participate in a multi-cultural forum? It might be worth a try, or maybe set up a time when we can all come over and chat, so to speak. It's worth a try. We're all women by the way, all bound by the same desire for sexy fabulous hair. If that's not unifying, I don't know what is. The fact is, African hair requires a lot more skill than caucasian in most cases, so the raised eyebrows about white girls and extensions are totally merited. About the icon, Moneypenny, there's no one but you..... (who knows)
Hehe. That is pretty funny. I love BHM--a lot of good, honest information over there, without the usual B.S. promotions.
In fact, BHM was where I first learned about thermofibers (WaWa), microillusions, and lace-front wigs. It's also where I first heard about "hair blending"--a phenomenally expensive service that seems to yield very mixed results.
The BHM boards were all locked for awhile; there was also an unfortunate situation involving a mass order of "Indian hair," wherein a lot of innocent women got scammed, and I think many of the members left afterward, although it looks like it's becoming more active again.
Maybe I'll pop in and say "hello from Hairboutique" or something. I don't want to stick around for too long, just because it's really a space for black women to discuss their hair and I don't want to intrude on that space, but maybe a quick hello would be cool--um, without the Sir Sean icon, of course. Any opinions?
es , there are alot of white girl weave boards and the bad part is they have very little knowledge of what really works because alot of what i have read states they are spending alot of money (thousand or more) and getting really bad jobs. i have read alot of complants cinderella locks and another i cant remember. but it seem many of them are getting basically riped off with bad hair and bad processes that doesnt last. they even speak on the thermal straightening system it seems that it also is damaging to there hair
