Ny sister is a mortitian. NEVER has she said..."Hey G, I got some quallity hair here! You want me to shave this corpse? The family will NEVER notice."[/P
This isn't happening unless you're dealing with some backwoods unethical people. In that case...you should expect some "odd" sh!t comin your way...that is if your superstitious
Whoa,Gina! That's crazy. And it's highly unlikely that there are many cadavers with the kind of hair we're looking for - it's not in our gene pool, plus most folks are old by the time they get to your sister, right? Short, thin, gray hair. No thanks.

That sounds like something those losers at hairpiece.com would say - they are two blocks away from His & Hers and are in competition - the salespeople at hairpiece badmouth H&H straight out to their customers (I know cuz I was one of them) whereas they are the unethical ones selling trash hair.

if you ever notice alot of your own hair when it sheds will have the root bulb on it. Alot of extension hair is collected from the brushings of Asian women. So that would explain the root bulk on the extension hair. I seriously doubt anyones hair is being YANKED out!

That was why I was so disturbed initially. I pictured third world girls/women having their hair yanked out and wondered would people voluntarily 'allow' someone to do that. Can you imagine?!?!
I just happened upon this post randomly doing a search for something else, as I am sure we all have and wanted to mention something odd that I found and have wondered about for some time. I bought some hair several months ago from a local Korean shop and it was the Zury four seasons collection. I was looking at the weft just to see exactly how they make them when I noticed root bulbs up there. I freaked out and called my girlfriend into the bathroom and showed her under the uber bright lights and she agreed that that was indeed what we both were seeing. So I started to search through the hair and found roots at the bottom as well.
Now this totally pi$$ed me off and freaked me out at the same time. This meant that there is no way the cuticles were going in the same direction for one and for another that means that this hair was not cut from someone's head but rather yanked. This actually disturbed me, my girlfriend said "maybe they collect it from dead people". I told her to please not tell me that, she just said "hell, I don't know I was just guessing".
So I really don't know what to think about this, any ideas? anyone? I actually considered contacting Zury and mentioning this and sending them some of the weft back so that they could verify, but wrote it off as me being overly sensitive or under educated in the trade and why should I care if someone wanted to 'donate' their hair post mortem.
Still think it's odd

they cant do that coz its illegal to sell dead persons hair and import it. Ive heard that in Russia some woman (who have little or no money) grow there hair really long so as when they die, their hair is used to fund the cost of their funeral. I dont know if this is true but this is what i have heard. But the hair we get is defo not from dead people.
I heard cinderells's is good but ive never tried it. x

I agree Rae,....just can't get my head around that one!!
Posh~ I don't think you should be freaking yourself out worrying about that. I think if this was the case we would have heard a lot more about this topic if it were true.
I can't imagine that hair gets collected from corpses for the simple (totally unprovable and un-scientific) reason that so many cultures have such respect for the material state of their dead- or at least, the proper disposal of those remains is super-important. I've taken several cultural anthro classes and never heard about any cultures who didn't have a healthy amount of superstitions and traditions about how to deal with a loved one's remains- and none of those superstitions or traditions ever involved cutting the hair and selling it.
So- it not like I'm saying it would never happen. But I doubt it would be widespread, for those reasons.
Honestly, girl--most of the human hair on the market is stripped in a cuticle bath (and with God-knows-how-many-other chemicals) anyway, so overlapping cuticles aren't necessarily an issue. Supposedly (or at least every company SAYS this), the hair is "cuticle corrected," meaning that someone looked at it under a microscope and aligned all the cuticles in the right direction..... Who really knows, though.
Either way, I didn't have major tangling issues with Cinderella. I think it's pretty decent hair, and AMM's batch was good too. Other reviews have been more mixed, but you can never really tell until you wear it.
That said, there are some brands of human hair, like Sensationnel, that always get bad reviews; I don't think Cinderella falls into that category at all.
However, if it's gathered from brushes, does that mean that the cuticles will be running all weird? I remember reading somewhere else on this forum that it was important to keep the hair in one direction to keep it somwhat manageable...
I would imagine it's primarily gathered from the brushes of women in Asia (like the vast majority of extensions hair is, imo); maybe some of its single-drawn, though. I do think Cinderella is Asian, not Indian, hair, but I have no reason to believe it's from dead people.
Cinderella, to me, feels like very standard, middle-of-the-road human hair--not bad by any means, but not the best either. There have been rumors that lots of human hair comes from dead people or prisoners, and I wouldn't be suprised if some of it does, but it'd be a pretty hard thing to prove.
The fact is, you really don't know where any of the human hair you use actually comes from--even when companies are seemingly explicit about their hair, they're not always honest, if you know what I mean.... :)
So I asked my stylist today, out of curiousity, where Cinderella hair came from. Great Lengths is very open about where theirs comes from, but Cinderella doesn't really mention it. Anyway, my stylist said she wasn't sure, but had a sneaking suspicion that it was cultivated from dead people...
Someone, please, tell me where Cinderella hair comes from. Lie to me if you have to, but please don't tell me it comes from a corpse... *L*
