Brent and Gord, RELAX! Geez-Louise. One guy likes short hair on women, the other long hair. That's life! No biggie guys! I have known more men in my life-( being a former escort)-, than either of you guys will probably ever know, and believe me their are plenty of men who like long haired women and plenty of guys who like short haired women. Both types of women are very popular with the fellas. RELAX guys, to each their own!!!.

Brent, if she's in a rut, it's been a three-year rut, since I wrote this simple statement, "I'm betting the short haircut costs her some popularity. I'll bet Brandy is smiling from ear to ear." in 2000. Try to keep up.
I never said shorthaired women were homely. So stop implying things. Speaking of implying...
Dude, just because you say it, doesn't make it so. Did Monica herself tell you she cut her hair because she was in a rut? I ask again: Have we heard from her since? Is she still as popular? Seriously! Somebody? Anybody?
All long haired women are beautiful and popular: ....and all the short haired women are unattractive and unpopular. Sure, of course. That's why you never see a guy on a date with a short haired gal. Considering that most women over the age of twenty have medium length to short hairdos I guess there are alot of homely women in America isn't there Gord. A country of ugly women with those awful short hairdos.
The reason Monica is changing her hairdo and music Gord is because she's in a rut. She is trying to get past the "teeneybopper" phase as her audience ages, so she is going for a shorter, sleeker more sophisticated look, more of a woman, less of a . since most women over twenty or twenty five don't have long hair, usually mid-length or shorter hair, she understands her audience.
Tina is right though in saying that change is what it is really about.... Women singers/entertainers often change their hairdo from long to short or visa-versa, or change the color or style of their hair, because pop music is all about change and trends. It's part music, part fashion. It isn't like the people who play music in symphony orchestras, where no one cares what they look like.
Whenever a female pop singer gets in a rut they change their musical style, their hairdo, or both.

Singers lose their popularity when they never change their music or their style or their hairstyle.
One reason Madonna has stayed on top is she has been willing to change. When she went to a short hairstyle it didn't hurt her popularity one iota. Same with Sharon Stone in the movies. Same with alot of women in "real" life. Change is necessary.
Realizing this thread of e-mail started a few years ago, do you honestly think Monica is as popular now as she was then? Is she on top? I haven't heard much about her lately. I admit it may not be her, but has she had a hit song lately? Speaking of her hair, is that photo current?

just caught Monica on Jay Leno. After her longish bob got shorter and shorter for each of her recent videos, she finally went for a really short cut: Layered, short back and sides (above the ears), longer top and bangs.
Looks cool, but I really preferred the geometric bob she had in her most recent video (don't remember the title). Anybody have any pictures of that style? Some images captured form the video? I'd love to see them!
