Spiraltresses - thanks for the background. And a special thank you for making the effort with the perms, sets, and hot rollers. At least one guy out there appreciates it! Nice to see, and painfully rare these days, I think.
Please keep us (well, at least me) posted on your progress, OK?

I don`t have natural curls Andy ... just waves. So I have to get my curls either from some curly styling aid (set, hot rollers, curling iron, etc), or get a perm. I go with a perm occasssionally - and love it - but I don`t like to perm on top of perms. Too unhealthy. Plus I like what I can do with sets and curling irons. I have about 3 inches right now (shorter in the back) and am working on growing it out so I can style it like the attached image. Color is dark blonde with carmel and strawberry hilites.
Spiraltresses, we agree again. I loved Meg`s perm in the New Year`s scene of When Harry Met Sally. Very sexy. Swing those curls around and I just melt (so did Billy Crystal apparently :-). Also liked Meg`s shorter curls from City of Angels quite a bit.
Spiraltresses, I`m assuming you are also of the curly persuasion? If I may ask, how long is it, and what color?
Also agree with your advice to Nancy about perms. There are lots of good styles out there now that aren`t 80`s throwbacks. Looser, messy curls are very sexy and in style, I think. Ask the stylist, I`m sure she can find a great modern curly style for you.
As for my favorite curly-haired star, my mind is blank right now... Melina what`s-her-name from Providence has gorgeous curls, very soft and full.
Also, I like that curly style in the above link, but it looks a bit stern with the middle part... I`d soften it with a side part that was softer, not so defined.
Love this curly feedback!

Nancy, perms have come a long way in the last decade. If you want one - and assuming your hair is in good shape (not overprocessed or stressed currently) then you should really go for it. A good stylist should be able to give you a cut that makes the look current so you don`t feel like an 80s leftover! How long is your hair? Did you look at the link to Heidi Klum ... that doesn`t look 80s at all ... just awesome curls! Its just my opinion, but I don`t think a headful of curls like that could ever be out of style!
Go for it (and let us know what you decide)!
Or, here is another one of my favorite "current" curly styles.

Speaking of Meg Ryan dos and curls ... remember her spiral perm in the last scenes of When Harry Met Sally ... at the New Years Eve party. Those big loopy corkscrews were quinessential 80s! I wish I had the patience to grow my own hair out to do that style;)
Lola, kudos for you for going for it! Meg also had really great curls in Presido ... again very 80s ... bleach blonde perm. Last Meg thought ... City of Angels ... great short messy curls. That`s one that I actually wore and loved. BUT, it took 30-45 minutes with a small barrelled curling iron every time ... yikes!
So who is eveyones favorite corkscrewed celebrity???
My own has to be Nicole Kidman. She gets so many different curly looks out of her styles!

I love curly hair! Unfortunately mine is long and very straight. I wish it were curlier but am afraid to get a perm - I had perms in the 80`s but am afraid I will look like an 80`s leftover if I get one now. What do you think?
Ah, this warms my heart, to see so many other fans of curly hair stand up and cheer! :-) I agree with Spiraltresses that Teri Hatcher`s curly `do from last year looked fantastic on her - a look I wish other women would emulate. It was the only thing which made those Radio Shack commercials with Howie Long watchable.
And Lola, I applaud you for trying the spiral perm. Just nothing sexier than a headful of bouncy curls.
Anyone else?

I love curly big hair, like that pic. of heidi klum. I think that is GREAT! I myself gave the sex and the city, sarah jessica parker, look a try last summer.Got a great spiral perm, I was so pleased with this whole look until clumps began falling out. Thankfully I had alot of hair to begin with...anyway, this is how I have come to trying this meg ryan do and ended up finding this wonderful site!

I love curly hair too (as the name would suggest :))... nothing sexier then a head full of curls. Last week on some show, I think it was Access Hollywood I caught a brief glimpse of Pink with a super curly short do. Almost poodle perm looking - really tight to the head. On most people I think it may have looked dreadful, but she managed to REALLY pull it off.
Teri Hatcher is someone who bounces from curly to straight a lot. Last year she had an awesome curly style that was really flattering.
I for one hope the "fashion" continues and expands ... I for one am a little worn out on the stick straight ironed look ... bring on the spiral tresses:)
I`ve seen fans of blonde hair, long hair, and pixies on this list... just wondering if any other men or women out there are fans of curly hair, natural or curler-enhanced. I think curly hair looks great on most women - it`s very sexy, and has lots of movement and bounce. It`s great seeing straight-haired stars try it out sometimes, too, which seems to be in fashion these days.
