I believe Jesus did have beautiful long hair and a beard because that was a common fashion for men in those days.

And even if you don't believe Jesus was the son of God as us Christians do, his teachings are beautiful and have contributed much to humanity.

And yes there was a historical Jesus, this has been well documented by the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls along with the writings in the traditional Bible. Other religions like Muslims regard Jesus as a prophet and historians regard him as a great spiritual teacher.

Ingrid is also right, I guess it's ok to be "politically incorrect" about us Christians but heaven forbid we do that to any other religion!

I know Krissy was just having fun with this thread and I can appreciate that, but Christianity is one of the world's great religions that has started many charities, schools, and hospitals to service people, as well as giving many people hope in difficult times. It should be treated, at a minimum, with at least some respect, as should other great religious traditions.

I think Jesus' hair was beautiful and most likely very popular way back in the day.

This is why I asked that we end this discussion in a mature fashion. I`m sure a lot of you are gonna say that I`m some kinda religious freak if I say this, but oh well. I`m NOT trying to push what I think on anybody else...I`m just asking for you guys to stop, cuz it`s getting a wee bit offensive to something that I (& millions of other people) hold very dear. If this thread was based on any other religion and people started to say insulting things, people would be all over them about being disciminating and non-PC (and they`d be right). I`m just asking for the same courtesy.

Actually, there is no substantive evidence about this character or any of his alleged parents. Even if there were, celeb hair talk isn`t usually about celebs who are 2000 years dead, as I understand it. Maybe we need a `very dead celebs` board?

Well I think most people here have heard of Jesus, so surely that makes him a celebrity? Anyway, the lack of writings on Jesus`s hair in the Bible or any other historical texts have led me to conclude that either (a) his hairstyle was very mundane and nobody ever felt the urge to comment on it, or (b) his hairstyle didn`t suit him but people were afraid to mention it because they knew his Dad might strike them down with a bolt of lightning (secretly I think this is the real truth). Well that`s my explanation for why our celebrity-hair-discussing predecessors were so laconic.

Historically, Jesus probably wore traditional Jewish hair for the time. I`ve heard that means short. Of course I have also heard that means long. Does it really matter? His hair doesn`t seem to have been a point of contention. In fact, it doesn`t seem to have been a point at all.
