I think I agree on this one. It's not that she looked bad -- if you look at her pictures, she was still really cute with short hair. It's just didn't seem to fit her style or personality. It was just kind of blah. With her long curly locks, she was quite striking.
It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if she had gone short, perhaps straightened it, and gone with a different style, and maybe color. Maybe the results would have been more electric.
As for the decline in ratings, I don't know if I fully buy it. I would suspect that most of the viewers of "Felicity" were female, and wouldn't be as greatly affected by a change in her appearance. As a male viewer, I wasn't freaked out by the style change, but did find the show increasingly less interesting as it progressed -- kind of blah like her hairstyle. Much of this was a function of the uninspired writing and predictable storylines.
Alicia Silverstone she used to have such beautiful long hair . I think it being shorter makes her face look fat. I used to get a boner when i looked at her.
Since I`m not a long hair lover, I shouldn`t be responding to this but... If you look a Alicia Silverstoon an old Al Bundy quote should come to mind... "NO, Peg! That dress doesn`t make you look fat, your fat makes you look fat." My point being, while Alivia is far from being fat... she not as slim as she once was.. and not just in her face.

As for Kristina Wagner, she actually looked great with short hair, her fans and long hair lovers took her cutting her hair as a personal insult. Robin Wright Penn`s hair was falling off, so she cut it off after a bad dye job. Celine Dion`s bad cut was probably a good move for her in the long run, as a result her hair has never looked better.
IMO, the WORST long to short has to be Liv Tyler. The cut looked stupid on her, she hated it, and she will probably never again have a haircut that is above her shoulders (which for her is as it should be)
kristina malandro (now kristina wagner), general hospital, 1988. beautiful golden blonde hair past her waist, chopped it all off to almost pixie short. it was so shocking, she got hate mail from her fans. she did it not long after dumping her first husband. a month or two after the cut, she disappeared from the show for a year. her hair never has fully recovered.

The one that comes to my mind first is Celine Dion after she announced she was going to have a baby and take some time off. She had long beautiful hair while on tour (who knows how much of it was her own?), then got it cut short and tight and dyed it blonde. As attractive as I thought she was with long hair, frankly she looked butt ugly with short hair. I remember seeing a People Magazine photo of shorthaired Celine on a golf course. At first, I thought that a divot had landed on her hair. It was that bad!
Faith Hill when she went from the long golden blonde waves to that hidous "rocker" girl cut with all the jagged edges and the the extreme bleach job. She ended up having to chop it really short after that to do damage control. The shorter cut was cute.......but that first cut. Yikes.
