i would try to wet the hair first on the sink then put lotion into i tjust hand lotion, for afew weeks, then brush it wih a wide tooth brush, it makes it a little strainter, but i wish i had straigt hair too, it would save me so mch effin time and energy, i must have spent a quarter of my life fussing with these hellish things called curls, i would curse the day the curly gene found its way into my anatomey and then to my hair.

Curly hair is not a curse, it's all about the right products and the patience to take care of it.

My daughter has natural, beautiful long curly hair (much like Halle Berry's new look). It took quite a bit of time for us to figure out how to work with it, but one of the best websites we've found is http://www.ouidad.com. This site lets you do a profile, and them picks the products that would be most beneficial to you. A bit on the expensive side, but well worth the money if you really want to love your curls.

Also, find someone who specializes in cutting curly hair and is in high demand. My daughter and I recently found a woman in Huntington Beach, CA, who is in constant demand for her talents regarding curly hair cuts.

The Ouidad website also helps you to find salons and stylists in your area who have gone to school or specialize in Ouidad's "slice and dice" cuts.

For anyone in the Orange County, California, area who is looking for a superb stylist, let me know and I'll be happy to provide you with the information that you're looking for.

Good luck,
Paula F

i LOVE curly hair, i had it permed curly before n i really liked it, tho it does take longer to get ready in the morning, but it makes me feel less plain i guess. i'm deciding if i should perm it again, curly that is.

I hate my curly hair too.. but the thing is it''s not really curly or really straight. it''s just undefined. i have to spend hours to get it to go either way, the only way it looks even margonally acceptable as curly is if i let it air dry and use some tamer and leave in conditioner. air drying is gay though b/c it takes FOR EVER and the last thing you want in the morning is to go to school with wet hair (especially in Tacoma Washington.. *shudders* dear god, i HATE west coast marine climate!). If i want it straight on the other hand, i hafta take a shower at night, blow dry it while brushing constantly, straighten, RE-STRAIGHTEN IN THE MORNING! and then wear it up for about half the day. it ends up looking great by around.. bed time -_-. why IS that that my hair only looks good when nobody can see it! rar!!! well, my only suggestion to help tame frizz is use a bit less conditioner but just don''t wash it out. *teehee* i guess it''s sort of cheating but i like never wash out my conditioner and i have hair that doesnt look greasey easily soooo, it help a bit. oh well good luck. i sure haven''t had any

Amen Xia! I love my curly hair. It's what makes me who I am & it's what makes me unique. What's the statistic--something like 5% of women have naturally curly hair?

I think growing it long to decrease the poufiness and the right styling products can make any curly hair beautiful.

I have puffy and curly hair together and it doesn't look good at all. for years all I've done was keep it up in a bun. i tried a straightener, and it worked but it took me 2 hrous to do. then I found a gel called flat out. that didn't work either. my hair is super curly, but it wouldn't bother me if i could where my hair down curly. I love my long hair and don't want to ruin it by cutting it. Ingridgir16 or anyone for that matter, email me me at Ram9001@msn.com if you have any suggestions what to do with my hair

I learned a lot about curly hair from one of my friends with my exact same hair. After some of her tips I can now say for the first time in my life im beginning to love it! If these don`t work a little then i don`t know what will. The first really helpful thing is a ton of products that you can choose to use on your hair. I always use a leave in conditioner when i get out of the shower or when my hair is wet. Its what my stylist told me to use because curly hair needs a lot of moisture or it will get fizzy. You can use this along with other products such as moose or gel. But, if your curls are still out of control, then try using something called bed head. You may have heard about it but it really works. Its kinda expensive but what isnt that will do a good job? my favorite product by bed head is called Manipulator. Its pretty much glue. Blue glue. haha it works like a charm and it will tame any frizz. It works on me and my hair used to be horrible! I hope you find the same results.

IF you are really having a problem, I can suggest a mild relaxer for you. I have similar hair and problems and I always keep a mild relaxer in my hair. It does wonders while still giving you some curl. I like Revlon at Sally Beauty Supply. It is easy to do. You buy the relaxer already mixed up, you only need to get the neutralizing shampoo with it (right next to it on the shelf). I have been doing my own hair for the past 16 years and it always looks fabulous. I still have a curl but not the frizzy tangles you are talking about. You can send me email offline if want more help with this. mmcghee@ergpa.org
