Dear Mary,
First I would recommend that you go to a hair dresser and get professional advice before this condition worsens.
You also need to consider what you may have done to cause the breakage in your hair, so you may never repeat the same mistake. Were you perming your hair too often than what was required, perhaps even overlapping a great deal on previously permed hair? Maybe the products that you are using are too harsh on your hair.
However, in the mean-time do not perm your hair, and put a treatment and conditioner through it at leat 3 times a week (use cool water when rinsing). Try not shampoo - as this will strip your hair of it`s natural oil; encouraging dryness and breakage. To keep your hair looking shiny and healthy apply a serum to towel dried hair( Frizz Ease works best) then roller set your hair, and let it dry naturally, do not use any direct heat on your hair.
Also, in the future try to use products that have heat styling protectants, and products that helps to strengthen your hair.
