Well the Elan treatment is a leave in but the other`s definately have to be washed out. Especially the aphogee your hair would probably fall out or something if you kept that stuff in. It actally gets very firm and stiff and you can`t comb or manipulate your hair much while it`s on your hair.

So, are these the type of conditioners that you have to wash out, or are they leave-in treatments? I can`t stand regular conditioners for some reason (unless the hairdresser puts it in). I always buy shampoo that already has the conditioner in it (Creme of Nature).

I find that protein treatments are a necessary part of my hair maintenance routine. If you hair feels very dry and you have some breakage it will temporarily assist you with the breakage problems. I personally have used; aphogee, Jheri Redding`s Protein Pac, and Wella`s Elan Plus Leave-In. They are all pretty good and readily available at many beauty supply stores incuding Sally`s.

Good luck,
Shaun

Protein treatments are a great way to strengthen your hair, but remember--this is NOT a permanent fix. These conditioners contain hydrolyzed protein from a number of various sources: human hair, plants, etc, but it doesn`t matter where it came from. The effect is the same: the proteins fill in the gaps (weak areas) in between the cuticles, making your hair seem fuller, softer and shinier. But remember, nothing you can apply topically to your hair will EVER repair past damage. People never want to hear that but it is unfortunately the truth. Hair is dead from the moment it emerges from your scalp, so no amount of deep conditioners, oils or protein packs will restore hair to its original state. They can, however, temporarily make hair feel better until you wash the conditioning agents out. Your hair might not be damaged if you don`t process it, and if so, protein treatments can somewhat protect hair from future abuse. Hope this helps :-)

Those protein treatments!! I hear nothing but good things about them. Can anyone tell me more about them?? Are they sold at regular beauty supply stores? What are the benefits of using them??

Thanks,
Karonica
