Using the Conair or Igia Quick Braid System

My daughter's hair isn't kinky so I can't say personally how well the "braider" performs with kinky hair. I would guess that it would work just as well though. Let me know if you get it and how you like it.

I have used it on my daughter's hair a couple of times. She's 6 now and the first time we used it was when she was 5. She has hair down to her waist. It makes for some interesting looks. It's best for twisting small sections of hair. The hooks that the Conair "braider" uses to hold the hair in place before it twists the hair don't allow for holding large amounts of hair. It takes a couple minutes of practice before getting used to. First you attach 2 sections of hair to the "braider". Then you push a button to twist those 2 individual sections of hair. Then you push the button in the opposite direction to twist or wrap those 2 sections around one another. So it's a 2 part process. The Conair braider comes with clear plastic bands to fasten the hair with. Then it comes with these really neat plastic "beads" to decorate the "braids" with once they are fastened. The beads actually open up and have small teeth on them so they are really easy to fasten to the hair. Just fold the "bead" back together and the teeth grip the hair to help keep it in place. It's best to fasten the "bead" above the clear plastic fastener so the "bead" doesn't slide down the hair and fall out. It's a fun product to play with. It's probably best for people with long hair. Otherwise, if the hair is not very long (like shoulder length), it's probably just as easy to twist and combine the sections of hair by hand. You can achieve the same look that the Conair "braider" achieves by hand with long hair, it's just that it would take longer to twist long hair into that type of style. Hope this helps!
