After shampooing and conditioning your hair, apply a styling product like TIGI Control Freak serum, to towel dried hair--it's sold at beauty supply stores and it's in an apple green bottle. After applying the styling serum, use a medium to hard holding gel--Biosilk Rock Hard Gelee is the best gel I've ever used. Apply the gel in sections, though. And as you are applying the gel, twist 1" sections of your hair until your entire head of hair has been twisted. If you want pretty rope-like curls, just let it dry. However, being a male, I think you would look best with more separated ringlets (if your hair is at least to your neck). To acheive a more separated-ringlet look, let the twists that you have created air dry, and then once they have dried, gently pull some of the twists apart--SOME of the twists, not all of them, or else you will have a big frizzball! If you want to speed up the drying time of your curls, use a blow dryer on the low setting, cool air. I am not an expert in hair, however I do have mixed hair and when I have used this technique to achieve defined, spiral ringlets, my hair has come out pretty darn nice. I would always receive tons of compliments!

I saw this person who had an afro one day and the next their hair was in spirals. I've tried s-curl and wave noveau but they all gave wavy curls and not the spiral ones. Does anyone no how to get spiral curls dat looks natural and will look good on a mixed african male?
