You are referring to African American hair right? This is the African American hair forum so I'm assuming that's what you mean when you state you have never seen someone with waist length hair before.
I have seen many women with waist length and longer straight and wavy hair. That texture is designed to grow and grow without friction and tangling that would lead to breakage.
Nappy natural hair is fragile and fuzzy so it shrinks up to a fraction of it's stretched length and it doesn't really hang but grows up and out instead. There are a few women I've seen on the web who have grown their natural hair to waist length ::stretched:: and there is one woman who I interviewed who said her hair is midthigh when stretched. You can see photos of her at http://www.hairobicsallnatural.com
Take care of your natural hair with protective styles (to avoid combing/breakage), moisturizing products. Exercise and vitamins like flax oil can help hair grow faster and stronger.

Yeah I've seen women with floor length hair...my cousin even has waist length hair and she's black w/ a natural texture (but she's about to cut it and donate to locks of love since it grows so fast).

my friend's hair get that long easily. She's a quarter spanish tho, so she usually kept it down most of the time, it was more work for her to put it up, because it was thick

You can find where your tailbone begins by feeling for that bony protrusion that marks the top of it. I found it about an inch and a half below butt-crack length.
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?
Tailbone length actually would be long enough to sit on, so you're about right.
Actually tailbone length is just above the crack of the butt so it hair that length would not be long enough to sit on. Classic length is considered below the butt and long enough to sit on.

Very true. My hair isn't "waist length" but it's long enough to be too much of a bother when I wear it down. I pin my hair up about 90% of the time. I really hate wearing it down because I don't know how to deal with it.

I've read very many posts here with the descriptive term "waist length hair". I don't think I've ever seen anyone with hair to their waist.... perhaps it's meant as hair that comes past the bra or bra strap? Waist length in my book is almost long enough to sit on.
