It's definitely easier for a Feye user to have BSL hairr at least. But
Feye's method can be used to make it foolproof for someone to trim your
hair for you. As long as you can make a nape ponytail and pull it down
your spine by however many inches. Then the cutter can follow your lead
to "cut exactly 1" off" the pony tassel. (click here for Feye's method)
If you don't know anyone who can trim it for you that you trust, and
your hair isn't long enough yet for the do it yourself tricks (I think
it has to be at least bra strap length for those to work), interview
the person who will be cutting your hair before you sit in the
chair.
You can walk in and talk to them about it, and if you don't feel you
trust them to not take off too much, you can always make an appointment
for later if you feel pressured to do so, then call and cancel it
later. One good thing to do is NOT say "trim" or "cut the dry
ends off" because they will likely take off way more than you
want. Just tell them you want EXACTLY ....whatever you want in
inches /centimeters. Like say you want exactly 1/2 inch cut off,
and no more (that way they know that when you're finished you will have
the right to be mad if you see more than 1/2 on the floor). Just
make sure you feel you trust them and they will respect your wishes to
have long hair before you sit in that chair.
Whether you want to trim now or not is always up to you and how you
like your ends. Some people like the ends thinner and call them
Fairytale ends, some prefer blunt, it's all your choice.

I haven't had a trim in over a year, and there is no visible
split ends. Although it seems that the ends look a little thin
and uneven. The bangs are an inch or two longer than the rest and
seems the most damaged, I wouldn't mind making it a little more
all one length. I am trying to grow it really long al one
length, but want it to look good, I am just scared that
they will trim off too much. Is there a way to tell them not to
take that much off, because I have heard some stories of trims
gone bad and would hate for them to take too much off and set me
back. I am just starting to be happy with the longer length and
want it to get much longer. Should I trim right now and get it
out of the way or should I wait a few more months?
