I used something like that once, and yes, they do lift a lot.  My natural hair is medium-brown, and the one I used took it strawberry-blonde.  So I imagine dark-blonde would be no problem, and the ash should help cut down the risk of any unwanted orangey tones (the one I used wasn't ash, but I've heard it probably would've helped if it had been).

one of the hi-lift one process blonde colors, like l'oreal excellence?

it says on the box that if you have dark blonde hair, it will lift to a
light ash blonde. is this too good to be true?
