I bought one, but it´s impossible to use with long hair. I mean, really long hair. I think it mainly for those who don´t have enough to make a real bun. Clever, really.

Maybe you mean the Hairdini, or the Hairigami.  They don't sound exactly like what you described, but the closest thing I can think of.  Do a search on google for Hairigami and you can see the styles on the first link that comes up.

Hairdini has it's own site:  http://www.hairdini.com/HairdiniMagicStylingWands.html
There are several different such products on this site, maybe you meant the TieDini?

In 1995, I saw a TV advert for an interesting hair gadget. It's a strip of Spandex or Lycra or some similar material with a slit or hole in the middle. Through this, you put your hair and then can do things like wrap it into a bun or make other styles, basically by twisting the ends of the cloth so the hair rolls around it, then shaping the roll of hair as desired. A woman with very long, very blonde hair demonstrated the technique.

What is this device called? Is there an Internet site about it?
