I don't know about the shrinkies, but I do know that you can't install the MB shrink links on wet hair. Besides steam burning your head, the moisure underneath the Shrink Link will totally inhibit the shrink link from staying in the hair, it will slide out after a shampoo or two.
I've never even dreamed about installing Shrink Links wet, but MB tells us to most definitely have the client's hair 100% dry before installation.
I don't think it would affect the hold, but maybe you should do a
strand test off-the-scalp to make sure your hair doesn't go up in
flames, LOL! Maybe AMM and some of the other Shrinkie vets should
weight in on this, too. :)

actually, i got their kit...so it probably was the smallest hook.
however, i am having a tough time bringing my hair through w/ the hook,
cuz it's doubled then.
it probably is just waaaay too much hair...although i don't think it's any bigger than the tip of a #2 pencil.
i'm just having such a tough time seeing - like i'm not close enough to
see to poke the pretip through, etc. i have no problem feeling
for the hair and i have yet to burn myself (knocking on fake wood)
oooh Jenny...that wouldnt' affect the bond then when i actually do wash
my hair? i got some Rave #4 pump hair spray the other day that's
stiffer than.....uhh nevermind...you get the idea! LOL

Umm...I wouldn't install on wet hair. The cuticle swells when it's wet
so it could compromise the final result. Would hair spray work? A lof
of people use that during their installs. :)
Hmmm.... I heard about someone wanting to try the Extendtubes on wet hair which seemed ok but I really don't think Shrink Tubes would work right on damp/wet hair. It's worth a try though, just do a couple and see how they hold.
As for your hook, you may have ordered the xsmall one (???). The regular or "medium" hooks seem to hold a good amount of hair.
okay....so now i even had my mom try to part off my hair to install
shrinkies, since she used to do all my perms....now i remember why i
stopped doing perms....her poor fingers have no dexterity left.
so alas, i will have to do these myself when i get a solid day to do
nothing more than install extensions.
so my question....has anyone ever done an install on DAMP hair.
the lower portions of my nape...the baby hairs....are sooo wirey it's
so difficult to part them off...but if the hair is slightly damp, they
stay together better. i would think Doc's clamp would definitely
dry it out while the shrinkies are cooking!
any other suggestions here??? it also seems like the hook they
sent me is AWFULLY tiny. maybe i'm trying to take too much of my
own hair, since it's really thick.
so now if this doesn't work....who's in PA??? >:)
