Perhaps I should get some dome spray, I've heard great reviews :)

Ditto what Mer said. I actually think human tangles more (at least the overprocessed blonde HH brands), but the synth tends to "bunch up" a little more. In either case, you'll need to detangle in the morning and the night, at the very least. As Shadow said, cutting into the hair on the ends is the only way to go (don't cut them straight across, whatever you do); razoring works well. I haven't noticed that synth feels any "hotter" than human hair.

I think there's can be a bit of an adjustment period with synth, but once you figure out how to work with it, it's less work than human, at least for me.

Most of the challenges anyway have to do with washing and drying the hair, and in your case, Kim, you'll be wearing clip-ins, so I don't recommend washing them much. WHen you remove them at night, just spray 'em with a bit of Febreeze, if necessary, and detangle with a bit of Dome spray and reapply in the morning. Voila! When you do feel you need to wash them (and again, I'd put that off for as long as possible), do so in cold water, with a bit of fabric softener, and let them air-dry completely overnight (you may want to set them in Velcro rollers while you do this). If the wave drops (and with enough washing, it will drop), you can reset them it using the Velcro rollers, or flocked hot rollers, and they'll be wavy again. If the hair gets rough at some point, you'll need to blow it out or steam it straight, then reset it, which is fairly easy too.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, Kim. I'm sure it'll look good, and even if you decide not to stick with synth long-term, you will have spent a lot less on a trial run than you would've spent trying out a human-hair brand.

:)

I did cut up into the ends and noticed a huge difference in the tangling. It really helped.

I'm using citrishine spray and a wide toothed comb, and then a boar bristle brush after that.

I must say I miss my dreads, they were no work at all, lol!

You guys are getting me worried .  I did not get my plastikhaar yet but it seems like it is a lot of work to keep nice - yes?  I did order the dome spray so hopefully that will help with the ends.  I just hope this hair does not end up in one big rats nest.

This might be a silly ? but does the synth hair feel hotter on the back of your neck than human?  In other words does it stick to your skin like plastic does?

Cutting the hair ? - I have read that it is best to razor cut the hair.  Is this true?  Did you do this Shadow?

Couple more weeks till I get mine.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it still looks pretty good to me. Do you have the Dome spray? And what kind of combs/brushes are you using? I've found detangling with a wide tooth comb and the Dome Spray to be the best daily care. Even so, the hair tends to get sort of ratty after a few weeks or so, at which point you can steam or blow-dry to make it smooth again.

I had planned to steam my own hair last week, actually, but I had major problems with my steamer (long story). So I sort of gently blow-dried the top layers, which seemed to help. I haven't done a full blow-out yet. Maybe this weekend, if I can summon up the strength, LOL!

Here is a really good photo of the colors. This was taken today, it has been a week having them in. I wound up cutting off about 3 inches and then cutting up into the ends to thin them, as they tangled easy. It is much more managable now. It doesn't look super smooth, but I am so hard on my hair....

Thanks to RoseRose, I'll be sporting her old dreads sometime soon, lol.
