Many of us do our hair ourselves.

For a detailed discussion of schrinkies and extentubes see "bridget your question is here"

But in general extentubes/mocrorings are small rings of metal (~1/8 " long and 1/8" in diameter) that you pull a section of your hair through and then push the extension hair into.  Then you clamp them closed.

Shrinkies are 1/8" diameter and somewhat longer depends on the brand.  You push and pull similarly and then use a heat wand to shrink them down tight.

these seem to be the most popular on this board. do most of you do your hair yourself? what exactly are skrinkies ans what exactly are extentubes?
