match...i figured b/c there are no scalp oils on the extension, i
didn't want to dry it out.
i also assumed that if i had to dye my own hair during the time i was wearing them, that they would be recolored.
it was just trial and error!

A permanent dye won't necessarily hold better, in fact perhaps just the opposite because of the porosity caused by the higher peroxide volume and ammonia.
You should use a demi permanent. The brand that I use is Matrix Color Sync and it holds very well. At your local BSS you will find a selection of demi permanents. I think Wella color charm has some, Clairol Complements has one, and there's many more.
thank you.. the problem is i ordered a 2 from bohyme and thats still not darke enough so i wanted to dye it darker. Last night I used a semi permanent color to dye it darker and it doesnt appear as though it took the color too well so therefore I was wondering if I could dye it with a permanent one ( i figured it would probably hold better) however can i dye it darker with a permanent one if i just dyed it last night with a semi permanent one?
What color on the color ring was the bohyme you purchased, and what color do you want it to be?
It's not recommened that you lift color on extension hair, but it can be done, the results may be iffy though.
If you are wanting to color the hair a darker color, or just deposit a tone on the same level (for example, you want to add some red to the brown) then a demi permanent should be fine to use. A semi would probably be good too. All colors fade over time, even permanent ones.
The term permanent actually refers to the fact that the color has ammonia (or an ammonia derrivitive ) in it, and has the ability to lighten the hair's natural pigment.
If you are just depositing a tone or wanting to go darker you do not need lifting ability and therefore do not need to use a 'permanent' color. Why use more chemicals than necessary? Ammonia and higher volumes of peroxide can be drying to the hair, so if you don't want to lighten the color, you shouldn't use this tool for the job.
In another thread you wrote that you had dyed you hair first with a semi permanent (the 28 washes one) realized it wouldnt stay and then dyed it again. Its funny you mentioned that because I ran into a similar problem last night when I tried to dye my bohyme (shade 2) to dark brown/black. As soon as I put the color in the first thing that I thought was there is no way this is going to stay. So I can go over and re dye it with a permanent color even though I just dyed it with a a semi permanent last nightm (is that what you did) ??? Im really stuck on this one...
