Sounds good. 22" will probably be OK if you want a lot of layers; for a
more single-length cut, I'd go with 24" though. She'll probably have a
batch of hair there, and can show you exactly how long it would be at
the bottom layer (keep in mind, you'll need to trim the ends a bit).
H&H varies wildly in quality. Cuticle hair is by far the nicest,
and personally I'm not all that crazy about their standard or Italian
minxs, although others may like them, depending on their hair type,
texture, etc. Synth will of course be way cheaper than HH and may be a
good option; the care is a bit different, but there's lots of info here
about it. If you want a wave, though, you'll need Prostyles, Dome, or
PlastikHaar (not Trimco), although I'm sure your stylist knows all
this. And to preserve that wave (because it will drop with a few
washes), I would recommend investing in a set of velvet-covered hot
rollers.

Actually... I'm not entirely sure if I'm going synth or human. My girl said we would discuss both at the consultation. I know she usually works with synth... but told me over the phone that she likes both synth and human for different reasons. She seems very honest too... which I love. She was telling me how her prices vary... anywhere from $350 to $800 depending on the hair I choose. She actually cautioned me against using the most expensive (best quality) human - as she would prefer I go cheaper the first time to see how I like extensions. Basically she said that she would hate to see me choose "the best" my first time... end up not liking extensions.. and then having regret from spending all that money. She said that even the most inexpensive hair she uses is wonderful... and that starting with that (which I believe is synth) to find out if "extensions are for me" is best. She also said that she's not into it for the money.. but for the art... and stressed that the happiness of her client is the most important (but not in a cheesy way ). I can't explain it very well... sorry! I just know she's not all about the money... and seems to take a lot of pride in her work... ya know?
Jenny - I know she uses HisnHers for human (and different grades of hisnhers??)... and another human brand too maybe... but for her synth, I have no idea, but I'll let you know tomorrow! Oh... and another quick question... If I am 5'9" (have a rather long neck), and want hair to mid back area, below breast - how long would the hair orded be (via pinchbraid)? 22"? THANKS AGAIN! You rock!!
Congratulations, and ditto everything Metalgirl and Sherrie said.
Remember, if you're getting pinchbraids, there will be a slight overlap
of 1 1/2 inches or so at the top, so figure that into your estimates
when deciding how long the hair you order will need to be. (Of course,
you can visually show the stylist how long you want it, and pictures
are really helpful, too.) What else...um, tell her you want them really
small, particularly as you move up the head, for minimal visibility.
And of course, there's the price, how long it will take to install,
etc. Are you getting synth or human? I forget, but I thought it was
human. In either case, find out what brand she uses.

You should be able to ask as many questions as necessary. Its your money, and your head so ASK ASK ASK!!!!! If that annoys her...get the heck outta there! LOL
Specifically ask what method of extensions she is experienced with. You dont want to go to someone who only uses one method. Because one method does not fit all....you want to find someone who will use the right method for your type of hair and to achieve what YOU want.
I would also take pictures of what you want your finished result to look like.
Also find out is this extensionist backs her work up. Does she fix extensions that fall out? Does she charge for it. Its normal to loose a few, but to loose alot is somtimes from poor install. Find out what the policy is on that.
Find out what type of hair that she plans on using.

I like when people bring in pictures of the look they want to achieve, that way I can let them know if that goal is realistic and can be reached with hair extensions.
I would make sure you ask all the questions about cost, including cost of hair, cost when you come back in to have them removed and reapplied, etc.
Ask if you can reuse the hair and if so, how many times can it be used before you need to purchase new hair.
Ask her how long you can keep the extensions safely in the hair, and if she tells you that you can keep them in longer than 12 weeks, I'd be very cautious since to keep them in longer than that is really not recommended.
What kind of extensions are you thinking about getting?
Well, tomorrow is the day I am having my consultation with my extensionist, and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited! As talented extensionists yourselves, is there anything I need to do.. umm... or are there any specific questions I should be asking? I don't want to be annoying to her, but at the same time, I really want a specific look... and I want to be able to get that across without irritating the crap out of her.
