OH! Yes, that's right, MissCelestia! Yeah, she's HP trained and does
pinchbraids- though I don't know if she's wokring currently. Her
website (www.misscelestia.com) should say.
And yeah Jenny, I'm starting to entertain the idea of scheduling a business trip!
LauraR: My house is actually only a mile west of Navy Pier! But you
probably meant my salon. That's in Wicker Park, about 2.5 miles
northwest of Navy Pier. It's two blocks south of the Division blue line
stop, for reference.
All you midwest girlies should carpool out to see me. :D
I'm glad you guys are excited, but I haven't taken the class yet!
I really do plan to take it, as there seems there would be a high demand for this method.
Melissa from HP said the class would probably be around the end of June or July.
I'll be so on a plane headed to HP.....
I am going to the Prostyles class on May 15th, so if anyone's interested, I'll be looking for a few good guinea pigs for my first few clients. I think I said this before, but there's no fee for guinea pigs, just the cost of hair.
Chicago is a great town! You'll have a really good time. Be sure to visit Rae first, then go out on the town in your new haar. Chicago is a really great city.

Oh wonderful Rae....that would be awesome. I will definitely consider a trip to Chicago to have my hair done by you! Never been to Chicago and always wanted to check it out, maybe this will be my reason to go! Hmmmmm, my wheels are turning now! And $200 is a helluva bargain!
Rose I didnt realize you were so close to me! I will check out HP but I think Im into the idea of visiting Rae!
I think Misscelestia from Toledo is who you are referring to now that I think about it, and Im not sure if she is doing loose extensions anymore or not. And I dont know if does the pinchbraids. Ill have to check out her site again too!

sherrie, I am in Ann Arbor. I ended up having someone who lives in
Toronto but was doing a production (she is a wig maker/makeup artist)
locally do my first pinchbraid install.
The other woman who did it is out in, lessee by Detroit somewhere. She
just switched salons but I dont think I have her card. She should be on
the hairpolice website, her first name is Heather.
On the hairboard there was/is someone in Toledo but Im not sure she is doing loose extensions currently.
Sherrie, I've had a few clients drive in from Cleveland- it's a hell of
a drive, but if you ever come over to Chicago for a weekend, I'll make
time for ya! I'm only $200 (not inc. hair) for a full head.
And metalgirl- YAY! One more in the pinchbraid camp!
Go to the Hairpolice website www.hairpolice.com. On the right side is a box: click 'locations'. Page will open and there will be a box about finding a stylist near you. click and put in your zip code. voila.
that's how I found Sirena at deadlyhair.net. Also, Jenny posted about deadlyhair being in Long Beach (it's really in Huntington Beach) so that reminded me and I found her on the Hairpolice website.

LOL! Yup! And he's not too happy about it, either!
But seriously. DIY fusion is a piece of cake, no question, but it does some damage even if you're careful, etc...it's just the nature of the beast. No way around it. It's easy to do, inexpensive, blahblahblah...but for long term, rugged hair wear, I know that pinchbraids are the way to go. There's almost no downside to it. You can't argue with the longevity and safety to your own hair.
That's not to say that there can't be shrinkie/extentube add ins on the sides and stuff, but for the bulk of the hair, it's got to be pinchbraids.
To be honest, the most important thing to me is the styling! I can't cut my hair to save my life, and what separates the men from the boys (or women from the girls) is the styling! The layering, razoring, placement...I want to put that in the hands of a pro. I have NO hair training and it's obvious - when I try to style my own hair, it's a side show! The Bearded Lady, the Snake Man, and Syren, the Hair Freak.

Hey all you CA girls, I am going to take the next Hairpolice class
Melissa said they will be having a class again this summer and she will email me the dates as soon as it's scheduled. I'll start saving for this because it's $1000 for the 3 day class. I've been totally convinced by all the pinch braid wearers that this is a method I must learn!
What a great way to celebrate being done with radiation. Im soo excited for you!!
I cant wait to get my PH order. I should of not skimped on the shipping!
I saw the UPS guy pull up today and I got all 'hooray its hair day!' but it was just clothes.
Just clothes?! I love clothes. Alas, no hair. Poo.
