Hi metalgirl
is there not glue in the shrinkies? and does the glue from the bonded hair not get into your own- so that you need remover? i was under the impression that if you used the shrinies you got glue in your hair....?
Shrink Links should not cause any damage if done correctly. After doing it on clients for 5 years and also myself for 3 years, I have not seen any damage at all. By the way, shrink links aren't a glue method.
With the metal links, I have seen a lot of damage of some people, and minimal damage on others.
Mine, too, Missy. After a year of extensions (heavy dreads among em) I removed everything and am having my sister trim my hair today. I'm really freaked out because I am seeing the broken hair at my hairline, and it's also gotten thinner. It makes me sad. I'm not sure what to do! The only thing I guess is to just add extensions in the back or not at all. Sorry to sidetrack this thread but I guess I didn't anticipate the damage that occured...my own fault as a DIYer ready to try anything.....
What's even suckier is I know she will be tsk-tsking as she trims my hair and making me feel stupid.

honestly heat and glue- and remover- scare me! but i dont want my roots cut off so my hair is an inch long either...! i already have thin hair, with alot of breakage at the hairline- while it is naturally long, to the middle of my back, it is not as full as I like, and it is ....frizzy

If you no longer want braids I think shrinkies are probably the least
damaging way to go. Well maybe bonded wefts. But as you
well know and have listed risk of damage comes with each type of
extension.
So far I've had better luck with rings staying in than shrinkie sbut I
think shrinkies probably take a bit more practice to get right.
I think you need to think about what kind of damage has you the most worried

I am to confused! I know any way i choose will cause some damage. If I do shrinkies or fusion I have to deal with heat, glue, bonds and remover. If I use glue, same thing...and if I go with microrings, then damage at my roots....right? What is the best most prefered way? I have had individual braids before so I dont want those type of extensions, nor do I wish to continue to wear the falls and clips I am currently in...esp with summer right around the corner..!
