I would be very interested in ordering from extensions plus
since there have been such great reviews; however, I am
unsure of what color to order!!! I was going to order a bag of
#22 and a bag of #24 of the 50% Italian Mink Bodywave hair
from his andher. Any recommendations of the most
comparable color from extensions plus? I need to order it
today to get it by next week. I had no idea there were so many
different brands, styles, and textures of hair!! HOW
CONFUSING!!
I had a great experience with H&H Cuticle, but their regular
weaving hair is *not* very good. I don't like their Italian Minx,
either, though some people seem to like it. I would try EP or Bohyme;
it won't make a difference in terms of the install.
One thing to keep in mind is that the pinchbraid method overlaps the
hair at the root for 1 1/2 to 2 inches, so be sure to order 1 1/2 to 2
inches longer than you actually need. I would recommend ordering a full
8 ounces if you're going from short to long. Special products, hmmm? I
like to use serious, deep conditioners with human hair extensions (for the length, but not the roots), but
that's me. It's important to have a wide-tooth comb and a boar's hair
brush, and a silicone spray or serum, like Biosilk, can also be
helpful.
Good luck--and be sure to post pics! :)

Why don't you try Extensions Plus's hair? H&H is hit and miss, and hairpiece's hair is known to be pure rubbish. Amm just did a road trip and was knocked out with EP's hair and Metalgirl uses it regularly. The prices are right in line so why not try EP instead?
Great news about your upcoming appt! I know the feeling of counting the seconds til the day...
I used to like Hairpiece.com Apex hair, but then I got a really bad
batch that put me off it. Bohyme (from ebonylline.com) seems to be
holding up well.
Did Heather say -which- hair to get from H&H? I'm really not that
impressed with their regular-quality hair- you can keep it looking
good, certainly, but it's not nearly as nice as Bohyme. The strands are
thicker and it feels drier right off the bat. The Italian Mink or the
Cuticle might be good, though.
As for what to do- nothing much in the coming days, but the day of the
appointment, wash your hair with a strong shampoo and only condition
the ends. The drier and less oily your roots are, the easier they'll be
to braid and the better the braids will hold.
And (non sequiter!) I want to be Heather when I grow up. Jeebus she's talented.
I've only used plastikhaar so i can't speak of any human hair issues, but i go to heather and i love her. she's awesome and a blending queen. take some advil about 1/2 way through and it's all gravy. i posted pics of both my installs here and couldn't be happier. i've been using the biosilk and love it, and i know heather recommends the kerasilk conditioner which i've used and like on my own hair. i do wash my hair the morning of the install b/c i think it's easier and better for the synth (or human hair for that matter) to wash less often, so i wanted a couple days after the install before i had to wash. i did have human hair in (crappy beauty supply hair) once a year ago when i got a sew in - it helped to sleep with it in a bun, boinks (jenny rr has posted pics of this - little buns held by a scrunchi), or braids. i also know women who sleep with a silk or satin scarf on to keep the hair smooth at night when wearing human.
Can't wait for the pics!
edit: also - if you look under the "links for beginners" i know boogiemama and rae have their recommendations for human, there have been many posts here esp. about hisnher - maybe jenny used it? do a little search and i bet you'll find lots.
Okay everyone. After reading through everything on this board
and getting such *GREAT* advice and information I finally
made my appointment for my extensions!!!! I am going to see
Heather, in Atlanta, next Saturday. We have talked on the
phone several times and I have seen some pictures of her work
and am very impressed. Since my hair is so fine and still short I
decided to go with the pinchbraid technique since it causes
less damage to my own hair. I am so excited!!!!
My friend and I are driving down Friday night and coming
home on Sunday so not only am I getting wonderful hair but
also an adult weekend without kids! Yippee!! Working as a
school nurse and having two kids of my own makes adult time
a true gift.
Now- Heather told me to order my hair from hisandher. Any
advice, concerns, etc about this? Also, should I be doing
anything to my own hair for the next week such as conditioning
more? Heather is going to give me a sheet on aftecare but any
recommendations from you experts would be greatly
appreciated- should I buy an extension brush, special
shampoo, avoid swimming? Thanks again and I will be sure to
post before and after pics!!! You girls rock...
