I have sewn in wefts with some shrinkies on the edges right now.
I used what i htink Gina suggested a few eeks ago as the 'Malaysian
Loc' method. So I don't have braided tracks. I have
microringed tracks. But then I just sewed the wefts right on easy
as can be.
And since there are no braids they lay pretty darn flat to my
head. I've had them in for maybe two weeks now. I have only
had minimal problems and I think it's becuase I hadn't done them
before...

I always liked that method. Lots of folks say that it hurts and that it will pull your own hair out if it's too tight, but I never had any of that happen. It was super low maintenance at least imo, except that it had to be reinstalled about every 3 or 4 weeks or it drove me crazy. But it was very inexpensive, so that was good. Those are the pros in my experience.
The only con imo is that it's hard to blend your own hair if your hair is short. It tends to look like the dreaded mullet. Of course now that you're on this board, you know about shrinkies and extentubes so you can doctor the sides of your head with more hair yourself and correct any mullet-ish tendencies in your install.
It's a good method, again, imo, especially if you have a pretty tough scalp. Tender scalps don't do well with cornnrows.
