Yeah, I do that for braids and dreads- it definitely makes it look less scalpy using the exact same section sizes. Here's an example of braids with triangle sectioning.

I've never tried it with loose...I can't see it making a difference for anyone with thick or normal hair, but for very thin hair it very well could. Interesting thought.

I'd love to see a photograph of this, sounds neat. (I have really fine hair.) I'll have to go hunting on the web, now. Off I go!

Good explanation mocha chip.  It was the pattern they taught us for pin curls at beauty school.

I have heard of this technique for full heads of braids.  It's supposed to allow less scalp to show.  I used triangle sectioning for my braids this winter but I've never used square sectioning for braids so I don't know how it would compare.  But soon.  so soon.  I think I will be using square sections for my tie ins.  But this hair deserves a full run first.

I was doing a shrinkie fill on my mother, who has extremely fine hair.  I changed up my sectionning and I think I hit on something good for extremely thin hair.

I did rows of triagles, one pointed up then the next down, so that the extensions never fell open to the scalp in lines.  Is anyone else doing this?  I thought it really made a difference in her case.  It probably wouldn't be worth the effort for a thick haired girl.  Cheers
