Your welcome Princess. I didn't know anyone else had them so I don't feel so bad now.  The worst thing about it is I'm not sure how to stop it and once the knot is in there the only thing you can do is cut it out.

I find these sometimes when I'm trimming out split ends and white dots. I clip them out, as they can't be saved.

Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?

I thought I was an alien too...lol!  I get those all the time, but usually when I wear my hair naturally curly.  I'm thinking the curls just loop up so much and when you comb or style it they pull themselves into a knot.  I know exactly what you mean but I'm not sure there is a solution because I keep my hair trimmed and I still get them.  Is your hair curly?

Thanks everyone.  Now I don't feel so strange .  Guess its time to trim....  my hair is like 1 inch away from BSL.  I think Im going to use the crown and glory method: keep my hair in braids until its the length I want, and then chop all the dead ends. Will that be terrible? My ends don't usually split all the way to the top....

Knots- i used to get those and sometimes i would even get bowties to- it usually meant that it was time for me to get a trim. also moisturize and baby your ends more often- i think i have pretty much grown out of that stage- cause i have n't seen any in a long time but i do have to get a trim in the next month or so.
Me and you, your cousin and your momma too rollin on da strip on bow's

Hi Princess,

Although they may appear to be knots, they may be heat beads caused by heat styling appliances.

Ok, so this is really weird.  I wonder if anyone else has experienced this: my individual strands tie in little knots at the bottom of the shaft where there has been a split end.  Is that normal?  These little knots are SO strange.  I've actually always gotten the little knots, and thought it was normal until I asked a friend about them and she looked at me like I was an alien.  So... what do you all think? Am I out of this world? Am I doing something wrong?
