I can't see hair loss as being a worry, but hair damage is always a concern with longer hair. (Actually, with any length hair.) Definitely do your reading on how to care gently for your long hair. You may well get more growth out of it (meaning less breakage to negate the growth you're getting each month) with gentle care. Good luck!

You've never cut your hair in your life, and it's only down to your mid-back? That's really unusual, by now it should be longer than floor-length.
Do you have some reason to suspect your hair is not healthy, like damage you can see? If your hair is severely damaged, it could be breaking off at the ends, rather than growing long. The remedy for this would be conditioning, treating with an oil like jojoba, and gentle handling (no ripping out tangles).
Even if you have damage, this will not result in hair loss. The best way to eliminate damage after correcting care issues is to trim 1/2" a month until the hair looks healthy again. That way you don't lose any length in the process. There's no need to become a shorthair to get long, healthy hair.
Hi. I am 15, almost 16 years old, and have fine, wavey hair.
I have never had it cut. It isn't that long, to my mid back.
Anyway, I am concerned about the health of it. I wear it up in a
lose ponytail with a middle part everyday, but sleep with it down most
nights.
Am I in danger of hair loss?
I would get it cut, but I am really afraid of change, and how people
react to change. I would like to have it trimmed.. At least by my mom
with good scissors.
This is so hard for me because I don't want the ackward feeling of
asking my mom to trim it or anything. I don't know what to do
