I use White Vinegar in the salon. I mainly use it strip the shampoo wax that coats the hair when clients use drug store shampoos, including Pantene, ColorVive, Fruitis, Dove etc. most of them have it in them.
Why? because when you use them, it leaves a "slick" feel on the hair when it is wet making the consumer think that it is conditioned. In time it really builds up and you will notice your being heavy and gummy. And it takes ALOT longer to dry. Hair color and perms do not take well with this wax on the hair either. My salon does not guarentee our work if a client has been using these products and tells the client this before each chemical service and if they lie, we know immediately when your hair is wet.
Another good trick for removing product build-up is Baking Soda. I use it in the salon on really built up hair. Sometimes, clients think that their hair is very dry when in fact it could be product build-up.Just mix it with your shampoo to make a paste and lightly scrub your hair with the paste. Rinse well, then shampoo again with your regular shampoo.
It makes a world of differance!
I hope this tidbit of education helped.

I tried the regular white vinegar tonight...and it worked fine. I'm not noticing the smell now that my hair is dry. I first washed my hair then poured the vinegar in...then did my scalp therapy with nioxin and had some good conditioner on the ends of my hair.
I use distilled white vinegar -- reputed to be better for blond(e) hair
-- and it works just fine for me. I say try it, and if you don't
like it you could try the Apple cider variety and see if that is more
to your liking.
ACV smells better in my opinion. Their functions are the same. Both are fermented whathaveyou, and both are almost equally acidic. Go for it if you need a clarifying treatment.
I don't have any apple cider vinegar and I really need to clarify my hair....but I do have some regular distilled white vinegar though. Before I try this... ...well...should I try this? Is there a huge difference in the two?
Yay ...no nay on the regular white vinegar until I get some apple cider Vinegar??
