Thanks for responding. I've been on this site since December and have received and given good advice. However, I have been up in the air with the whole heat thing. Needless to say I have not given in to using heat especially since it's going to be about 105 degrees this weekend!!(Muy calor!!) Last night, I washed my hair then mixed Nexxus Humectress with Evening Primrose Oil and let it sit in my hair for 25 minutes or so. It was very soft afterwards with alittle less shedding. I kept it pulled back in a clip for today. We'll see how long I can go heat free!

i've just had a straight style on mine...actually, kinky straight, the beautician said i had relaxer already in my hair..i find that if it starts "drawing" up after going in the water, i will use a leave in conditioner (Nioxin silk exilir) and a warm/low setting on the blow dryer. It seems that keeping the hair moisturized and away from heat has been my best bet..afterwards, i use Farouk biosilk. it's clear and silk based..it gives it great shine, protection no matter what the style is, and better manageability.
when i apply heat, i get scared..someone who didn't know very much about ethnic hair, said i could blow dry my hair "everyday" and there wouldn't be a problem..
well, my hair began thinning at the part, and became dry/brittle..at one point, i looked in the mirror and realized, i looked like a witch shot out of a cannon.
stick with us on the forum..there is a myriad of experience, take what you need...from what i see, we've been around the block a couple of times when it comes to learning.
Definitely yes for me. My hair doesn't mat too badly when I air dry because I'm constantly working through the tangles, but I've found that oil seems to "take" far better with the low steady heat of a cap dryer.
Make every day you have count, before the time comes for you to count every day you have.

I relaxed my hair 2 weeks ago with the intent on not using heat at all this summer. I used heat the first say because of my art show but I haven''t since. I tried this before for a few days but I've noticed that my relaxed hair does not like to air dry. When I use heat every so often, I have less breakage and shedding. Without heat, I've had more than usual. Has this been the case with anyone else??
