thanks again! i've just purchased a "ceramic" flat iron from sally beauty supply..Wish i hadn't, but i will keep it until it "breaks down"..the name of the flatiron is Jilpere...i found out after doing research on the darn thing, that it is owned by ConAir..yep..they tried to give it a lot of hoopla when it first hit the market..but each customer review says the same thing...it's great for about a month - if that...and then, it breaks..one reviewer stated she had only used hers twice and it no longer worked.
i've just tried it today..and am happy with the results..my problem is, there's new growth at the roots that has not been permed..i was afraid of doing too much heat when i saw the smoke coming from the flatiron moving down my hair length..it requires more heat than the relaxed areas..it's more refined, but not as silky as the middle and ends. I have also used "Ion therma-protectant" for the hair, and it seems to have helped keeping me from frying what i've worked so hard to grow.
Plus, the instructions say, that you might have to go over the hair a few times to achieve certain results.
I've just ordered the Sedu ceramic flat iron..it should show up in the mail by the time this Jilbere konks out..The jilbere was not very expensive..depending on the size you order it goes from $14.99 to $35.00. 1" to 2 1/2"...
from what i'm reading on the Sedu, pricey, but less than the BION, and some of the other japanese state of the art flatirons..Sedu is the best rated by beauticians as well as your average customers who have bought it, and who are very happy with the results...regardless, i have to practice working with it over time...like i need to practice on my wrap styles..
it's true...i have a question..thanks, first of all, sending me the password to the photo album..i am impressed with your achievement and am well on my way likewise...my hair is textured..how did you achieve the silky look in the photo on the right side? and keep it?
No problemThe first pic is my hair straightened with my old Conair flat iron. My hair is flatironed in the second pic with an FHI ceramic flairon. The same basic products were used--but in my opinion, the ceramic always produces a shinier, sleeker finish. I basically wash and condition--apply my leave ins (Salerm or Infusium) and dab Lottabody and ORS olive oil throughout. Not too much b/c I want the hair to still have movement. Then I blowdry and flatiron. For extra shine, I'll dab a bit of coconut oil as a finishing touch after the flat ironing is done. i don't wear my hair straight very often though b/c I'm trying to stay away from the heat for awhile. You can try wrapping your hair overnight to preserve your flatironed style- or try pin curls
my hair looks more like the photo on the left..textured/straight...what flatiron works well for the hair? i heard the ceramic is great.
To me, ceramic consistantly produces the best results. The press lasts longer and the shine it leaves is great They are a little more costly especially the full ceramic plated ones (not ceramic coated- which wears off over time). I like them b/c you can get salon results at home with these babies! 9 times out of 10 your salon stylist isn't gonna use a Conair, a Hot Tools, or a Gold n' Hot on you and thats for a reason

thanks for your advice if you have any...and yes, i've written down all of the instructions for basic hair care from your website:)
i have a new style with new growth, that i have to sometimes blowdry..I bought a hair pomade by Mizani called Rose H20...it smells like the title - rose water, and it has a creme like texture..it's natural, and made from botanicals and light..my hair has a "moist" feeling when i use it..and it's not like the hair greases i grew up with:
You remember: Afrosheen, ultrasheen, dixie peach, sulfur 8, K7, HairRep, etc.
It's not petroleum based..very nice..another one i found is Nioxin silk exilir..it's very good as well if not more beneficial to hair growth.
