all types of extensions are applied to the hair, so any method of extensions you choose you will be adding alot of weight to your hair. With the condition you have, adding weight to your existing hair can put you back to square 1. Also, because your hair is only 1 inch long, blending will be alot harder so it wont look as natural as it would if you had longer hair. I dont think extensions are right for you because it may take you a big step backwards. Ultimately, it is your decision and we know what we are suggesting may not be the option you wanted but we want the best for everybody who is not satisfied with their hair.

The positives to having a wig is you wont have a blending issue(where your hair is mixed with the extensions-sometimes it is hard to conceal where your natural hair actually lays which if people look close enough, they can tell all the hair on your head is naturally yours). Also, a wig wont have the same pieciness sometimes hair extensions can look like. (pieciness can be a give-a-way too if a person is really observant.) And with a wig, you can scratch your scalp! I know this sounds funny but having extensions makes your scalp itch like crazy!

Hopefully this is helpful to you. Sorry to hear about your condition and I hope with the decision you make you'll be happy =).

Life moves pretty fast. If you dont stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hello, I am already wearing a wig for the past 2 months and although my hair is growing back its not growing fast enough

I would really like to get extensions, would it really be that bad if I got extensions? Thanks

I agree with Kalika.

I would not do extensions of an person with alopecia.  However, I would design a hair piece of some sort for them.  Depending on their hair, maybe a top of the head piece or perhaps an 3/4 integration piece.  It could be either clipped on with toupee clips or maybe bonded on with hair piece bonding adhesive.

Sorry to hear about your hair problems.

I wouldnt recommend extensions, alopecia is very unpredictible and Im afraid if you had any weight on your hair it could make a problem get worse because your hair follicles have been traumatized enough.

I would recommend a nice wig for at least several months :)

Hello all

My story:

I am a female in college and had lost about 90% of my hair between the months of March-May, now my hair is starting to grow back slowly, My whole head is covered with hair about 1 inch long (but thankfully 95% of my head is covered with hair again).

My question:

I wanted to know how long my hair has to be for me to be able to get hair extensions? How much would it cost? Will it be ok to do it? How does it work? Thanks
