I have quite thin hair that used to be a lot thicker (and im only 32 i blame years on the pill)

anyway i have tried most methods incl clip ons - and in terms of cost and maintenance they are the easiest and cheapest - the weaves come loose in about 4 weeks and itch like hell, the other methods can be hard on your hair and result in breakage, and cost a ton to maintain.

the aqdvantage of clip ons is they are always in night & close to the scalp, you can change your hairdo at will, and they are cheaper - perm ones tend to matt a lot near the nape whereas clip ons done - disadvantage is that you cant sleep in them so if the hair is so thin you dont want a partner to see it that might be a problem - and if you dont clip them in right they pull - but then the weaves hurt like hell on the first few days

Thanks for the suggestion.  I dont think she is loosing any MORE hair(at least more than the usual everyone loses daily), but it has thinned out so much!  I'll look into clip ins for her.

As a professional, I would not do extensions on anyone currently suffering from hair loss problems.  If her hair loss has stopped, and she's not excessively losing hair, I would have her get clearance from her doctor before doing any type of hair extension.

That said, I would recommend some clip in wefts to give her fullness and length.  These are hair extensions that she would put on and take off everyday herself, and would be least likely to put too much stress on her hair.  Also, it's a cost effective solution, because once you have the wefts, there's no maintenance costs.

I have been reading the topics on this board and doing reseach on extensions for a few weeks.  I think I'm beginning to understand the different methods, but I do have a question.  My mom isstarting menopause and her hair is getting extremely thin, at least compared to what it used to be.  We have contemplated extensions to add thickness, but are wondering which ones would be the best for thinning hair?  She lives 300 miles from me and I wouldnt be able to be re-doing them often.  I do see her every 2-3 months.  I am looking for something that is undetectable, least likely to damage the hiar and easy to take care of.  She only washes her hair every 2-3 days,so over-washing/conditioning wouldn't be an issue.  I plan to practice whichever method we decide on before actually installing, so its not like we will be doing a trial on her. ALSO, are there any really good videos/books out there to help me?  I saw an e-book on som,e website that says it goes over all the most popular extensions for 2005.  I would like some reference material, but dont have a lot of money to spend.  Suggestions?
