I'm the same as you aseya, the length that my hair has been would also resemble a frizzy pyramid.  As I grow my hair longer, (the longest layer is BSL, shortest is slightly below shoulders) I might try to grow out the layers just a bit to see what happens with the total look.

My hair underneath isn't as curly as the outer shell so my hair is layered in a way because I have to cut the underneath shorter than the outer to make it look even.  When dry it looks all one length, except for my bangs which I blow out to do the sweeping thing across my forehead, and I get tons of compliments on it.

Unless I have layers in my hair it looks like a giant frizzy pyramid no matter how long it is! I think the layers just help it lay better. I was watching a stylist at a salon where I worked and she would give all of her clients with curly hair long layers. But it always looked different on every client. In my experience I've learned that longer layers generally look better and that you should NEVER thin out curly hair. It might just be my hair but when I got mine thinned the one time it looked like I had big poofy roots and thin ends. I wasn't a happy camper :(

Your hair thickness also matters. If you have a LOT of hair volume, the layers help remove some.

I have layers in my hair as well. I also blow dry my hair with a diffuser. My hair is much more manageable this way.
DANGER! I drive like you do.

I think curly hair works best with long layers, instead of all one length.  It lays better on the head with layers.  You could try growing it to one length, and see how the curls lay on your head.  They may look gorgeous!  The *one* time I had long hair, I had it all one length, and looking back I loved it that way.  But I'm a short-hair at heart person, and now I have short hair with lots of layers.

I guess it depends on the type of curls you have and if you don't like the all one length look, then you can always get your hair in long layers again.  I'm going to post a picture with my hair all one length when it was long, later today so you can see what it looks like without layers.

So, check back later tonight.

**Hair type: 2a, which is wavy and fine.
**Color: Naturally dark brown, currently dyed reddish brown.
**Length: below shoulder length

My topic is about layers.  I have curly hair with long layers, and wondered if other people with curly hair have the same.  Sometimes I'd rather have it all one length, but not sure what hair would look like all one length.  Any advice/opinions on layers?
