Going from dark brown-red to very blond is very hard on the hair.  It is so hard to get red out of the hair.  I would not attempt this unless your hair is strong and in excellent shape, or else you very well may get hair that ends up like mush and breaks off.

I agree, go to a beauty school to have this done.  The students are supervised by instructors, and it is usually very inexpensive.

Color on line is a little scary knowing your going at it your self but the info helps :) I'm not familar with the remover from sallys but I have used them before not for semi but for permant color. You could do it it should lift the back enough to put the brown over it but you will still have to bleach the top.Maybe you should get a freind at least to help make sure you get it thrugh good and maybe they could do the top. Or chec out the beauty schools in your area they will be very cheep not the most experinced but at least they are supervised.

Art - did you mean dark?  I think it would be very hard to do the foils yourself. if your hair is that dark you may not like the up keep of going that dark. As for sally's I'm sorry to say I haven't bought products from a publick store in 20 years I don't know what they have. I would save up and have it done I don't think that this is a do it yourself job and fixing it in a salon will cost you more than haveing it done.
