Merguthrie, I want PBs so bad. I even think the braids showing through here and there wouldn't bother me at all because it's sort of a style too. My hair is thin and the shrinkies pop through especially when the wind blows my hair around and it makes me self concious. I guess I need to get to that zen place where I don't care.
I'm in the Detroit area so I'll go to Rae in Chicago when my hairs a wee bit longer to try the PBs out.
no, i get pinchbraids done. usually by kris in the nyc but he passed away, yesterday. my last install was by animeamazon.com who is one town over (15 min) and way cheaper than kris, though kris still had the best rates. kris was a lic cosmo though, and anime is a braider, legal in ct w/o lic. kris was a two hour drive.
i will miss him very very much.
i do not have the patience to do my own hair. i am impressed with my ability to do the few i put in around my face.
Yeah, I'm already playing a lot with those little shrinks! I know it's bad, bad, bad. And I have quite a few tips that stick out the top of the shrinkie. But I'm lovin' having hair. It's so much fun changing my look overnight. I can't wait to go longer in about 4 weeks when the new plastikhaar comes in!
I went to register my 6 year old for school and the moms who know me kept staring at my head trying to figure out what the heck I did. Is it a wig, did it grow that fast over the summer??? No one asked, I guess they felt weird. Not that I have a problem sharing. I'm so excited with all of this.
I think the color you chose is a perfect match. Those sections look pretty great, too. Just be gentle on them as the days go by. Don't pick and fiddle (which is not only fun but addicting! Arrrgh someone stop me from fiddling!) and don't ever separate the strands if you hear the hair ripping. Chances are you may have some travelers in there (hair strands that came from too far over).
Other than that, I'd do some rows on the side to frame the face and fill it up going toward the back. You'll find that going short to longer, more hair = better overall blending.
Syren, I do want the big drama of long hair. I do, I do!!
I thought because my layers were so short the the overall length shouldn't be too long because it would be obvious. Plus because I've never done this I was a bit intimidated.
I've already ordered more hair , this is so much darn fun! The next install will be bra length. I'm already itching for more hair and more length!!! At least by then, my own hair will have grown a little more.
I haven't added any more to the sides yet, I've been so busy, But when I do I'll post more pics.
Nifty that's a great first attempt! Your sectioning is pretty darn impressive. The color is pretty, you look pretty - it's very nice!
You definitely need more hair. Don't be afraid to go way up high and way up front. It will take some styling strategy to not let the shrinkies show thru, but thicker is better, esp with strand by strand. Eventually you wont' give a toss if some shrinkies show through.
My question is this. Your short 'do is so pretty and flattering... why go through all the trouble of extensions just to go 4" longer? Why not go bra strap length and the big drama! Then if you can't handle it, cut it shorter.
Live dangerously.
But to you on your first install! Good job.

That's a great install. I'd just add about 15 strands on each side, maybe 5 each in 3 rows angling up from each ear toward the part. You'd be suprise what that could do.
Good Work.

Thanks. I used dunklebraun. My hair is so fine and the layers are so short that I'm afraid the shrinkies will start to pop through if I go too high up on the head. But I know I can't wear this like it is without a headband.
I'll just look like Bridget Bardot for a month! Things could be worse.

Looks great with the head bands!!! Try adding some on the sides, I think it's easier to put them in on the sides than in the back. And the back looks great!!
Ihave to say this was pretty easy. I made a few mistakes and had to take out a few strands throughout the process. They slid right out with that wand and what glue was left on my hair flaked right off with Amm's residue remover. I love it. I'll wear these a month or so and look forward to the next install which should go smoother. My mom came over today and helped me finish. It's so nice to have someone else to the back of your head. Her sections were much neater and smaller!

This took me 3 hours yesterday. I'll finish today. It's Plastikhaar tipped with LG and black shrinkies for install. I feel like my sections are too big, not neat and I currently have a serious mullet.
