I have been there. Actually, I am there. Both mom and friends think I
look good w/ long hair (bra strap length and the longest it's every been!)
but I find it too hard to keep from going limp, because my hair is fairly
fine. It also falls out a lot just because i have a lot of it, and long hairs
falling out really scares me compared to shorter strands when I don't
even notice. So this week I am getting a shoulder-length bob, razored
and layered. THink Kristen Bell from Veronica Mars. I think it would suit
me and just as Purple Bubba mentioned, it will do my ends a ton of good
since I dye my hair regularly (roots once a month, whole head every two
month due to fading of color - I'm a redhead).
All in all, it will be YOU that your hair will affect and not your friends. It
will be YOU to whom your hair will give either confidence or paranoia...
and I love that cut on you. Bravo!

I love your new cut. I'd personally ditch those friends who said the bad stuff about your hair. If they really did care about you, they wouldn't have said stuff like that.
DANGER! I drive like you do.

I agree with Anais. You look good in both. The important thing is that you like it so if they don't, too bad for them.
I'm sorry your friends weren't more supportive. Try to keep doing things that you like.
~~~~~~~
I like long hair (as welll as short) but I've learned that it's best
not to try to force your ideals about hair onto other people. It causes
nothing but stress.
Example: Person A has hair halfway down her back and likes her hair
long. However she's had it long for a long time and has done some
things to it that make it look bad, to her. Person B loves long hair,
has hair about the same length and in better condition. Person B has
made it known that she prefers people to have long hair. Person A has
told Person B in the past that she is keeping it long.
Person A shows up one day with a chin length bob. Person B assumes that Person A does not want long hair.
Person A actually wants long hair but had decided to start over and
grow out some healthier hair. But she doesn't tell Person B because B
keeps on bringing up the fact that A didn't want short hair and that B
liked A's hair when it was long.
Person A might be stubborn and decide to keep her hair short longer
than she was going to just because she is mad at Person B. She might
even go get a shorter cut. Then a few years pass and A wants to start
growing her hair long again but is worried that Person B might make
comments like "I thought you liked your short hair."
So what's my point?
This is not about long or short. The above could have just as easily
been reversed and had both people liking short hair and one of them
growing long.
The point is Person B should have been supportive of Person A. She wasn't.
It could have went like this.
B: Wow A that's a nice bob.
A: Thanks B. I'm glad it turned out nice. I didn't want to cut it short
but I wanted to get rid of some damage so I grow out again.
B: I know you'll miss your long hair but I'm glad you feel better. It
will be long again soon. It's good that you got a cut you like.
so cut my hair. I like it. but some of my friends have kind of been making me feel icky. nothing bad. they just say I look better with long hair. what do you think?
my old cut
my new cut.
this is after i had my hair cut for a few days and i learned how to style it a bit and what looked best.
