I'm not asian myself. But I'm pretty positive that she could reach platinum in one step (I remember you said you where going to do streaks on her hair) if you're only using the right products.
Try a good off the scalp bleach like Clairol Basic White 2 (BW2) and mix it with 50 volume developer (do not use anything lower than 50 cause then I don't think she can reach white/platinum) and also add red gold corrector to the formula. Do the foils and then leave it on for up to 90 minutes (do not wash out untill the hair is light enough)
If you're afraid it won't get her all the way to platinum you could always just do one streak first and see how it turns out. You could acutally leave the bleach on a for 120 minutes if necessary, but after 90 minutes the bleaching effect slows down..

Yes, it will take several steps. But it sounds like you have a plan. As long as you're working with a professional, I think it should be fine. There's less of a worry because she'd only be getting streaks, not the whole head, platinum.
My best friend needs some hair advice. Hope you can help!
She is Korean and has very Asian-type hair. That means level 1 BLACK,
and THICK. But she wants platinum streaks.
I informed her that no one can go from level 1 to 10 in one sitting, and
that it will take a few steps.
My question is, has anyone of Asian descent ever done this successfully?
I have learned that after the "faint yellow" stage is achieved, a violet-
based toner should be used to tone out the yellow and viola, a beautiful
platinum blonde!
Her hair is very thick in diameter, so can probably handle multiple
bleachings well. Even so, I will ensure that she gets a deep conditioning
protein treatment once a week! (We'll be protein pak buddies for the next
few months... :P)
Thankyou! Any advice or knowlege that I should be aware of, feel free to
comment.
