When I was natural a looooong time ago, it was very thick to the point it hurt my mom's hands to braid it. As far as growth, just in this last year, even before the Grow-Out Challenge my hair was growing great. I've gained great length. My only problem with relaxed hair is that I shed more than I think I would normally. I still grow nicely though.

With my hair relaxed I think it grows at the same rate but it breaks off so I don't retain as much length. Renee, your hair is so much longer. Is that all your natural hair or is some of it relaxed ends?
everything is now natural. i guess the extensions i got helped. i had them in for 1 month and had to take them out cos it was frizzy. ill get another done next week and try to keep it in much longer. maybe 2 months
There's so many beautiful natural-heads on here, I feel like cutting my relaxed hair off too But actually my relaxed hair is doing great. I've noticed that it grows more now than when I was natural. When I was natural I wanted it to stay an afro, and maybe use different styles w/ that, like buns, but my mom always used the hot comb, and I think that's what made my natural hair break. Surprisingly my relaxed ends are nice, w/ no splits, so I'm just focusing on the roots and scalp at the moment. I think if u just take good care of your hair, no matter what texture or style it is, u can have healthy, growing hair. Treat the hair like a family member - w/ love, concern, and respect.

My hair grew so much more when I became natural. The difference was amazing to me. Much more healthy also, as far as split and damaged ends and breakage.

i noticed the same thing. my hair didnt grow as fast as i wanted when i was relaxed. and i remember how long my natural hair was even when i didnt take good care of it. so i gave the relaxed hair some time to grow. it didnt, so i cut it all off. im very happy with myself cos i can see my natural hair growing :) relaxing doesnt work for eevrybody. hope more people come to give you advice on how to get your relaxed hair to grow :D

Would you say your hair grows better relaxed or natural. Personally my hair is relaxed and I have noticed that it doesnt grow as much as when my hair was natural. Sometimes I feel like cutting all the relaxed hair off and growing it out again naturally. If your hair grows the same relaxed as it did when it was natural, tell me what you do to make your hair grow better in its relaxed condition.
