hmm, thanks...I'd definately prefer to know about non-temporary temporary hair dye before I try it. well, shoot, I already ordered it, but that's what e-bay's for. Maybe I'll just get it cut into something more punky and roll with it. There's actually been significant improvement just in the last couple weeks while I've been doing crisis research, 'cause the longer it gets, the more you can tell that there's actually hair there, it's just a different color. anyway, I'm dissapointed, but thanks.
I wouldn't recommend using any kind of temporary black hair color on your roots. There is no such thing as temporary black. In fact, it is harder to get out than permanent black color and it doesn't fade or wash out like the bottle says. I've been there, done that.
I think you have two choices, you could just keep letting it grow out and work it! Yeah...your hair looks like that intentionally...and yeah...it's cool (remember the lead singer for Berlin in the 80s - she had blonde roots and black tips). Or, you could have your stylist strip it. It's drying, but if you condition it and use quality products, it shouldn't be too bad. But, I definitely wouldn't try to use a temporary black. Only bad things can come from that.
thanks guys, for responding..I appreciate it...nice to know I'm not alone in the world...lol! anyway, i'm a big hat fan anyway, but there are some times (especially at work) when it just isn't happening, and I tried hair mascara but it looks kind of weird and stiff, plus it flakes...like black dandruff...eeew. I just ordered some new hair dye stuff on the internet, and I'm kinda excited. It's called (I think) Jason's all natural temporary hair dye, and you shampoo it in. I got it off of Motherearth.com, and I figure hippie hair dye can't do all that much damage. My current hope is that I'll be able to cover my roots long enough to save the money up to just suck it up and get the color stripped and redyed red, cause the longer I wait, the weirder it looks. I originally hoped to just let it grow out, but I've decided it's just not gonna happen. Anyway, my only concern is that the last temporary dye I used didn't do anything but turn my roots purple, 'cause it was made for use on hair that was dark to begin with. if anybody's tried this stuff let me know how it worked, if not, I'll post it...'cause you never know when good temporary hair color will be usefull.

How about hats? Also wearing it up in a high ponytail will help a
little until you do something at least (will avoid the look of white at
the top of your head at least). There should be something a salon
can do to help you out, just make sure they test strand it so you both
know they won't mess anything up or damage it too much.

Help!!! I'm a natural blond (really light blond, which makes my problem worse) and I've had black hair for almost a year now. Believe it or not, it actually looked good. past tense. doesn't look so good now. I've finally decided I'm done and over the brunette thing ( I want to go back to red actually, that's really fun) but I KNOW I can't just dye over it. My stylist says that we'd have to strip my hair multiple times to get out all the layers and different dye colors. Don't wanna do that, for obvious reasons, so Im trying to just grow it out. my blond roots, make me look bald. BALD!!! Or at least like my hair is starting to thin really badly, especially from the back and in certain lights. I'm freaking out!!! So yeah, I don't want to completely change my hair color from black to blond (or red, as the case may be) but if anyone can give me suggestions for helping my roots to blend in a little more that would be helpfull. Anybody have any experience with the shampoo in temporary hair dye I've seen advertized? or if I had her strip it once would it be light enough to dye over red? I don't really care what color it turns out (within reason, I'm flexable), I just don't want to look bald anymore...and I don't want to keep up with the black, because I'm gonna HAVE to grow it out eventually, and there's no point in putting off the inevitable. sorry for the long post, and hope you can help!
