What I am thinking of doing is, at the time they are being removed, I will put on the new ones. I dont think I can remove GL myself, can I? I know my stylist use GL's solution, which I heard can be damaging.
Yes I know DIY can save some money but for me, I really dont mind spending money to have my hair professionally done by someone experienced. Plus I dont know how to style and cut my hair.
You asked whether I am pleased overall, god, I donno.... I think most of it is how my stylist cuts my hair, I simply dont like it, I am now a vic of bad haircut, Im so depressed and am laughing at myself how ridiculous it is to spend this much money to look worst after than before... I dont think I will go back and do it again, at least not with her.
There's a number of DIY (Do-It-Yourself) methods you can learn. Even clip-ins are a wonderful alternative. Seamless wefts get good reviews, too. If you look around this board you'll see a lot of us do a lot of different things and what's worked for some hasn't worked for others. I know that's vague but it couldn't be more true.
There's a lot of things you can try but here's just one idea: see how the fusion removal goes and if you're pleased overall with how the method did for you, maybe you can purchase your own fusion hair online and the GL stylist can install it for you?
If you do not want any glue or residue of any kind in your hair and for what's reported to be completely non-damaging, you'll want to try pinchbraiding. If nobody on the island does that, there's Ramah Vendana in San Francisco www.dreadbeat.com ($400-$450 at last quote) and metalgirl, also in CA at http://metamorphosishairdesign.com.
New to this board and regretted I didnt find this board before I did my GL yesterday.
I actually havent seen any damage yet but after reading this board I am second guessing if it was a good idea to have done it.
Heres my background: My hair is fine, not a whole lot of them but healthy, short, chin length. I always dream of volume, lots and lots of volume. When I first heard of GL, I thought great, I found my solution. And so I did, my stylist did a full head extension, used altogether about 5.5 bundles(25 strands each bundle) of 8" of GL hair. I was charged $1500 + tips.
She actually is not done with my hair because we ran out of hair and time, ha ha ha. Anyways, I am supposed to go back today to complete the whole process, we decided to borrow hair from another client of hers.
As of now, I have no choice but to finish it because most of it has already been done. After reading this board and second guessing my decision, I dont think I want to do GL again, what I want to do is when the 3 months come, I will go to someone else who offers a less damaging and cheaper method, of course great results.
So my request from all of you hair extensionists on this board, please give me a quote for one or two of the methods you suggest(will be nice if you can list all). I live in Hawaii and am willing to travel. All I want is fabulous full looking hair, short or long, human hair preferred but am open to any suggestion, using a non-damaging method at a reasonable price.
Thank you so much, really look forward to your replies, and thanks all for all the helpful info posted here.
