u want to come down when ur doin the line in front. if u started in the center of ur forhead and went up, ur line would most likely come out crooked and/or hairs right on the hairline would be diff lenghts especially when u brushed em out makin it look like u havent even edged urself. since ur new to this, pick the spot where u want to line. hover right above it to make sure ur hittin the right spot, then go let it touch ur head, and bring the clippers straight down. good luck

learning to cut ur own hair takes practice. so if ur cutting ur hair for the first time for a special event, i suggest u get ur hair cut by sum1 who knows wut they are doing. as long as u have the clip gaurd on, u should be able to cut ur hair pretty evenly all around. tapering and fades take practice. the tricky part lies within linin up ur edge. its easier if u do this wit a beard and mustache trimmer becuz they are smaller and easier to handle. use a mirror when doing the back of ur head, and dont be afraid to ask sum1 to edge ur back up for u if u cant. cuz its hard if ur not used to it. good luck to ya.
