hair dyes, even permanant ones, fade a bit with wearing. Wash your hair every day or every other day for 2 weeks, and if the excess red doesnt wash out (which it probably will), then you can color over with an ashy brown shade to cancell out some of the red.
Edit - and the red will fade faster if you dont use a shampoo/conditioner made specifically for color treated hair.
Every time I color my hair it always looks to dark/too red/to brown or whatever untill about a week later when the "real" color comes out.
Oh, and if you dont want to re dye your hair, you can always tone out the red with a product called "un red", you can buy it at sallys beauty supply. You simply mix a few drops of it with a conditioner, apply to your hair (towl dried hair works best) for about 20 minutes, and rinse out. easy peasy.

48 hours ago I colored my hair (naturally dark brown) with an auburn brown. It is now the color of red velvet cake. My hair is strong and in really good shape. Is it possible for me to recolor it with a dark brown and cover this red? Thanks!!
What was your hair color before you applied the color? Was it blonde by chance?
