i had my hair permed to about 3 weeks ago but suprisingly it didn't dry out however it did drop, but it it still curly because of the type of perm i had, my hairstylist told me to get a protein treatment one or two weeks after my perm to keep the curl in and then once a month aftre this but you can probably get a good protein treatment from the shops that should do the same job, use shampoo and conditioner for permed hair and use a curl activator, this will hold the curl for as long as possible.

also ask your stylist what products to put in it, he/she will know what is best for your hair.

hope i heled

Perms are supposed to last until you cut it off, but they usually do drop a little. Are you using any curl activators to get the maximum curl out of it?

Two weeks should be a long enough time before coloring. But if your hair is dry then I would probably get a deep conditioning treatment  (or two depending on HOW dry it is) first. I can't think of any products (my girlfriend loves Garnier's fortifying hair mask) but if you check out the African American Hair forum on the site they have a bunch of home made products that I've tried and they seem to work.

Other wise what I would suggest is to go to the salon where you want to have your lowlights done and have a color consultation first. And then ask the stylist what she thinks and how much the treatments are. Then you can just book a treatment. And that way your stylist also knows exactly what's been done to your hair, which makes her job easier and also helps with the outcome:)

i permed my hair about 2 weeks ago.

how long should it last? its fallen a lot but im just not liking it.

how long should i wait to put lowlights in it? i was hoping it would be okay around my birthday but its super dry right now.

what are some good quality products to use to put moisture back in my hair? i didnt realize how much a perm would dry out my hair. color has never done this to me.

please help!
