Try stripping your hair and if you're going from light to dark, always get a
color a shade or two lighter than what you want - especially with
bleached and processed hair, it will soak the color right up. Might want
to try a protein filler too, to make your hair less porous so it will hold
onto the color.

I am new to this so I hope I am doing it right. My problem is I am trying to color my hair back to a warm (not red)light to med brown color. My natural color is dark dishwater blonde but I pull warm when I color. I have always gone to a salon to get it done but it is gettign to expensive. My hair has been high lighted for years and recently I got red put on the bottom half and red and blonde high lights on the top. Hated the red and put high-lights through those to tone it down. Now I have tryed to strand test several different colors from a box Feria iced mocha(light irrendescent brown) which turned purpleish red, then loreal preference in light golden brown which turned orange, then the same brand in natural light brown which turned greenish greyish purple brown. I talked to someone at Sally's beauty supply and they say it has to do with the base color on my hair. Does anyone have any suggestions?
