When you're brushing bulk hair, either to blend it or just brush it
out, it's -very- important to hold the middle (or top, if it's human)
as tight as possible, to keep the strands from sliding around like
you're experiencing. And yes, the smaller pieces, the better! I usually
work with 1/8th of a bag of each color, so that's a quarter-bag total
at any one time.
hehe, ok, talking to myself here but I took a pic of the hair tumbleweed that I created and I am going to post it w/ my before/afters cuz it is really kind of funny. Sort of.
Ugh! I've made a mess. I had cut the PH in half but now the bunch is long again b/c the length of the hair strands w/ in the big bunch are all in different places, if that makes sense. The only thing that I think will save me is to regroup the ends as best possible and cut it all shorter. poop!
Hmm, maybe the uneven ends w/in each tip will end up ok. Maybe I should cut that end after it is installed. Maybe it will add to a layering effect? *sigh*
I blend just little bunches on hair at a time. Once that's blended, I'll start to blend a new bunch, so there will be small bunches of hair to pull from as I work.
Will you be pretipping the hair? When I'm tipping anyway, I'll work with small amounts, blending and tipping as I go along. If you were making a fall or something this may not be as efficient.
I bought a couple of shampoo brushes from Sally's to sandwich the hair between. They cost a buck and look like this:
I put down a layer of one colour, another on top, another on top, sandwich it all and drag it though a few times. Works great for me. Pulls out the little shortie hairs you get from bulk hair or wefts too, if you're ever using those.
Oh my--I was just trying to blend 3 Plastikhaar colors together-it will be ok but I was creating a mess. I tried to blend the whole batch at once and 1/2 way thru the mess, I realized that maybe I was supposed to blend small amounts at a time. I ended up w/ a giant tumbleweed of hair on the floor! I salvaged most of it but it still needs a lot of blending.
My question is this: how do you guys go about blending the colors? Small bits at a time?
