I have read that cutting your hair with "dull" everyday scissors can be just as damaging to the hair that you are cutting. It is a good idea to go to the BSS and get some scissors. I have bought some for the cheap.(around $10) If you have a sally's in your area, they always seem to have some on sale. Make sure you keep these only for trimming your hair. It can be scary to trim or cut your own hair. I have been doing it for years due to a BAD experience with a hairdresser. I always make sure that my hair is as straight as possible, especially at the root. I do small sections at a time. And I always cut off LESS that what my goal is. It is easier to trim off more later that cut off to MUCH . Good luck...you can do it
Use scissors that are meant for cutting hair. You can get from beauty suppy store. Do not use plain old scissors that you keep around the house as they can damage the hair. Also, you may want to do a protein treatment followed by a deep conditioner to strengthen and moisturize your hair.

I have noticed some mild breakage and I am sure that it is because I need to trim my ends. I am between hairdressers right now and doing my own hair, but I have no idea how to trim my ends effectively. Do you need expensive scissors or will regular scissors do? Do you part off sections of hair and cut the ends or just trim it around your entire head? Please help
