My real hair puffs up, too, I relate to that. On wash days, after it was dry, I would pick thru the synth hair and flat iron my own hair to blend so I think you are on the right track there. Maybe try a little straightening product on your real hair, also.
this sucks about the heat seals : ( i have pinchbraids and i've never lost one, (through two installs) plus my own hair blends great, i just wash my real hair on top everyday with the squiter from the sink lol, one thing that also helps is flat ironing the real hair cause it makes it more flat and settles down instead of 'puffing up' if you have hair that tends to frizz a bit. good luck!
you need to trick your hair folicles into thinking your hair is oily-
what i mean is this-
if you wash your hair everyday and your hair is already oily- then the washing everyday tends to "Try" to make your scalp dry- if even only for the day- so it sends a signal to the oil producing glands that your hair is dry and now u need more oil.
so if you do what cccross suggusts by not washing so much, you will trick your shcalp into thinking- ok i dont need anymore oil for now. it may take some time but it could owrk-
this goes the same for women who scrub their face dry everynite when they have oily skin, they get oilier skin and and more breakouts from trying to get the oil away.
hope this makes sense.

hmmm - well i guess amethyst if you are unhappy then you are unhappy, but what i can address is the oiliness issue -
i myself had an oily oily scalp - so oily that i'd wash in the am and by the pm my hair was greasy greasy. god forbid if i skip a day -gross. when i started messing around with extensions and got pinchbraids for the first time i made myself start lengthening the time in between washing. i swear to you your scalp will adjust. it will take time, and you may feel greasy...but it is worth it and i can't tell you how nice it is to wash my hair once a week. that's it - i can wash more if i want but i don't need to. pace yourself and start off by washing every other day..then every three days...etc etc. use talcum or another powder on your scalp as kirsty suggested and try a vinegar rinse (10% diluted in water) when you do and it will cut down the grease.
reducing my washing has lead to a healthier scalp, healthier hair, less time grooming, and helps my extensions live longer as well as lets my color last longer. i would really encourage you to try this because extensions or not your scalp will reduce it's oil production if you aren't giving it a reason to produce oil by washing frequently.
if its not blending go back to whoever did it[/

i looked at the pics and it looks good to me. has it changed now?
it seems a shame to take them all out you could tie the top bits back in a
pony taking a bit of the extension hair from underneat thats what i do when
i have blend issues at the top.
is it a difference of texture or colour?
my hair is just so light. no clients or anything have asked if i have
extensions. no one else thinks it doesnt blend, maybe it's just me. i just
don't have time to go back.
In retrospect I'm glad it didn't work out for me getting heatseals. I don't think my hair can withstand picking at it to get it free. Wouldn't mind trying out pinchbraids though. They're on my "to do" list.
Please I implore you to contact boogiemama and tell her your concerns. A businessperson should always be the first to know of a problem and be given a chance to rectify it.
And if you don't mind me asking, Amethyst, is there *anything* you've been happy with? Maybe I've missed it but you always seem to have something bad to say about everything you've tried. I do apologize if I've missed a positive anywhere.

i have had them foor about 2 weeks.
yes i think they are slipping because of my oiliness. i can try just washing
my own hair, but all of it ends up getting wet. it's just so high maintenance
compared to what i'm used to.
also my own hair TOTALLY isn't blending and it's driving me crazy.
Hey, that is too bad that the heat seals don't work for you guys.
Amethystkat, I lost about 15 at first, maybe w/in the first 10 days, and then it slowed to about 1 per week for the remaining 10 weeks. I can understand how they'd be hard to wear w/ oily hair, though. Could you try to wash just your head every day, holding the rest of the hair out of the way? I found some good hair washing tricks here, maybe you've seen them. I also read that someone suggested dabbing Seabreeze on the scalp between washings.
Or is it that you feel like too many ext are slipping out b/c of the oilyness?
They are fairly easy to remove, it is just time consuming. I cracked the seal and w/ a lot of them, I had to really get in there and pick off the melted plastic.
okay so these extensions just aren't working, i lost 3 this morning. my hair
is too greasy. i work constantly so i don't have any time to go to seattle. how
do i remove these without damaging my real hair any more?
