I don't know. When I am at my limit as far as stretching (9-10 wks) it's obvious because my hair gets very thick at the roots and there is not much I can do about it. I rollerset too so I think I understand where you are coming from.
I would be wary of blowdrying at this point since the tugging and pulling can ravage the hair, breaking and splitting hairs. It may not do tons of damage all at once but over time it really can cause more damage than if you just got a touch up.
If you choose to blowdry, you may want to do a protein treatment or reconstructor like emergencee beforehand for added strength, then use a good moisturizing conditioner, leave in and heat protectant.
I know others on the board swear by their flat irons for stretching and especially for getting at the roots. Still have not invested in one but plan to for this reason alone. They seem to be a good alternative to blowing which was never that effective for me anyway.
Whenever I start using my blower, no matter how innocent my intentions, my hair always suffers. Just dries it out and damages the ends with the brushing and even when I use a wide tooth comb. My hair also does not hold a curl when I blowdry, so I end up having to touch up a lot w/ a curling iron and it is just this vicious cycle. I usually just deal with thick roots rather than go for the blower nowadays.
Usually I wash, conditoner, rollerset and sleep in the rollers overnight. Now however since I have so much new growth and am stretching do you think it will work if I blowdry with a leave-in then just moisturize the ends and rollerset for overnight.
I just know if I only rollerset my roots will be so nappy. I plan to try the Garnier smoother tonight.
Or do you think I can use that and just rollerset and be ok. Looking to get my roots smooth.
